I am certain that Devin is going to play even better than he did in the second half of last year.  We will see improved O-line protection for one. Also, the play calling will undoubtedly be improved and you will see that Devin really is a good QB. I am not calling you a naysayer but the naysayers will be proven wrong this year.  Save this post and revisit it at the end of the year. Devin will be a top 10 ranked QB.

sure 98 was inconsistent much of the year but he also was outstanding in several games where the O actually established some cohesion (ie ohio game for one)  and the dude is a freak athlete with ability to make plays 9/10 qbs can only dream of.  i agree, if the OL provides any consistency whatsoever and if the RBs can establish any sort of balance, gardner will be great.  he has the ability, he just needs help from his OL and backs as well as coaches.  also, tough to get a read from outside the program looking in, but it always seemed like gardner never had authority to check out of bad looks or check into plus plays....now maybe he never demonstrated enough to earn that responsibility from borges but that would be great to see this year....i know nuss understands the value and impact of allowing your QB to eye the box and number alignment and then check accordingly - so itd be great to see gardner own this entire O, it would do wonders for limiting negative plays in certain circumstances (2nd only to competent OL).  really hoping the guys around 98 truly ball out and allow him to consistently excel, no one deserves success more  ( and hopefully minus the broken extremeties and smashed core)

it was a true observation. I could throw better spirals than those shown in the video and I'm awful. It looks like he's a little rusty and probably couldn't work out much prior to this and the good news is that a spiral isn't everything and we all know he can throw a good ball.

If they're that sloppy heading into fall, then it could maybe be a concern.

I wish they would show more practice footage.  Devin is a handsome fellow, but can't we listen to him while seeing some drills?

As for the embed, so the OP knows, I don't think this is possible from MGoBlue but I imagine MGoVideo or someone else will have the YouTube or Viemo version of this later so it can be embedded. I know MGoVideo already has Hoke's presser as well as interviews with Gardner and Funchess over on his site.

As for the post in general, I smiled at the sight of football being played, even in a spring practice video. Nice to see Nussmeier out there, seemingly hands-on and energetic too - that style will make a huge difference, one would hope.

Also, does it appear that the roster is updated? The classes are updated, and I believe the weights as well. Kugler listed at 285, Heitzman down to the 270s, Green listed at 227...seems different to me.

Gardner is also now listed at 218lbs instead of 210lbs.

RE: Green @ 227lbs--hopefully he maintains that.  He could have easily blown back up to 135 by now, so it's good to see he's staying on it at least for spring ball.  Although he was listed at 220lbs on the last roster update from last year.  Hopefully that 7 lbs is good weight.

EDIT:  Other notable changes (10lbs or more)  in weight:  Several others gained or trimmed in the 8lb-9lb range, but it was too many to count.  Comparison was from the new roster on MGoBlue versus the 2013 roster on ESPN.

Shane Morris up 19lbs from 183 to 202

Henry Poggi up 11lbs from 260 to 271

Da'Mario Jones up 13lbs from 185 to 198

Taco Charlton up 10lbs from 265 to 275

Ben Gedeon up 21lbs from 215 to 236

David Dawson up 13lbs from 282 to 295

Patrick Kulger up 15lbs from 280 to 295

Chris Fox down 28lbs from 338 to 310

Maurice Hurst down 28lbs from 305 to 277

Khalid Hill up 25lbs from 230 to 255

Jake Butt up 19lbs from 231 to 250

the voice-over guy doesn't know how to say his name.  He looks pretty quick, I bet he's geeked about the move to TE: stonewalled for PT at SDE, jumps into a basically open TE spot.  I bet he's an updrade over Paskorz, still hoping for the light to go on for AJ Williams.

Catches the ball with his body, though.  /overanalysis

Football!  Yea!

It looks like Hoke is still keeping his fingers in the coaching stuff ... at least somewhat.

I like the sight of Nussmeier out there coaching ... it's a younger, more vital look to the program than before.  Image matters, and that's some good imagery.

great sign...not knocking glasgows play as he did solid job last yr considering the circumstances, but its just great to see extra bodies out there getting meaningful reps (and not undersized bodies like several unnamed 285lb OL).  also love hoke mentioning glasgow taking reps at OT...may the best man win the C competition in the end, but they desparately need more bodies capable of kicking out to OT especially with several young guys out with surgeries.  so thats great news if glasgow can also rep at OT

pipkins?  the beginning of that video surprised me a little, i had to check roster if theres a massive walkon wearing 56 but it appears that really pipkins (unless an older clip or something).  wow, i did not expect that kid to be in pads like 4-5 months post-op...very impressive.  they really need beef up front on DL so thats huge hes not only on schedule for the fall, but healthy enough to be cleared for spring ball.  huge difference bw doctors clearing you for contact and working yourself into actual football shape.  nice work 56 - ACLs can suck but apparently jake ryans not the only rehab beast in that room.  now bust some chops this fall
