Few quotes from this weekend's commits

Submitted by GoBlue21 on

OL Kyle Bosch… “This morning when I woke up, I had a weird feeling that I should get this over with and commit to Michigan.

I don’t know what else I could look for between the great academics and great coaching staff. I just felt like it was a great fit for me.

What made me commit to Michigan was the overall feel that I got from the coaching staff and just the players that I met. They’re all great people from the G.A.s to the head coach Brady Hoke. They all have very good core values and they also have just a great support staff. The trainers are great. The academic guy gave a 45-minute spiel about how they’re switching to iPads so you don’t have to lug around 30-pounds of books from class to class.

The football trainers are awesome. I talked to a few players on the team and they talked about how great they are. The strength and conditioning coach is very knowledgeable. My strength coach back home says he’s very respected in the industry and at the end of the day that was an important piece of the puzzle, to find a good strength coach.

At the beginning of the day, I started to hint that I was going to commit. I told Coach Borges maybe next month I could see myself commit. Then the director of player personnel Coach Singletary came over to me and I said maybe next week. I then went in the bathroom and talked to my mom on the phone and we talked about it, Michigan State and Stanford. It came down to academics. I have a ton of respect for Michigan State and Stanford. I think they’re both outstanding schools, but it came down to academics. Michigan is the right place for me.

After I got out of the bathroom, we went to the pep rally for the basketball game and they had the ESPN Gameday thing going on. I asked my grandfather about it. He said he was also crazy about Michigan State, but he said it’s your decision. Later on I went in the pressbox and I made a lot of phone calls to friends and family and they were all excited about it. They said it’s your decision and with the options you have you can’t go wrong with any of them. They said if you go to Alaska, we’ll come to see you play.

From there, I called Coach Dantonio at Michigan State and told him what I was going to do. I called Coach Bloomgren at Stanford and thanked them both for their time and said I was very blessed with the opportunity they gave me and I hope they have great success in the future and I know they will.

I think by then Coach Hoke and Coach Hecklinski had an idea what I was going to do. Coach Funk was with them when I came out. They were all waiting for me and I broke the news to Coach Hoke. He was excited as hell and everyone was happy.

My whole family is very excited, very happy and very proud. My grandfather is very happy and proud of me. I was really happy he got to be a part of it. I was happy he got to come up from Arizona and is warm paradise and share in the experience. My school has a big Michigan following. My friends have been texting me. Some of them are coming over when I get home and all the parents are having champaign.

I can’t you how excited I am that I’m a Wolverine. It’s going to be a fantastic experience being a Michigan Man at the University of Michigan.”  http://247sports.com/Article/Bosch-Diary-Talks-Michigan-Pledge-62059

OL Chris Fox…”It ultimately came down to the best fit for me," Fox said. "I knew that Michigan was the right fit for me when I attended camp last summer." "I just love everything about Michigan, and having family in the Kalamazoo area really helped out." http://247sports.com/Article/Fox-makes-it-five-in-one-day-62084

LB Taco Charlton…"You can't pass something like Michigan up after seeing it," Charlton said. "It's everything you want in a college." "It's crazy." Charlton said. "The coaches were going crazy. I'm just excited to be a part of the big family now." http://247sports.com/Article/Taco-gives-Michigan-6-for-Saturday-62087

OL Logan Tuley-Tillman…“Officially a Wolverine,and better yet a Michigan man,” Tuley-Tillman posted (twitter). http://247sports.com/Article/Tuley-Tillman-keeps-weekend-going-62195

Kyle:  "Hey Coach, its Kyle.  I'm in the shitter right now and it made me think of you.  I have an opportunity to play bigtime football that recruits nationally.  Thanks for your time.  Im going to Ann Arbor"

marky: "But wait.  Didnt you know that Ann Arbor is a whore?  She will take anyone.  We have "sparty-on" and everything.  You will have a job at Walmart after you graduate, I guarantee that."

marky to assistants:  "That G/D Hoke took another one of my recruits.  I give up.  We cant compete against Michigan.  I am going to follow Nick's lead and throw in the towel.  Wyoming needs a new coach.  Who wants to go with me?"

Kyle:  I'm calling, because I'm about to commit to my dream school, and it made me think of you...

Dantonio:  You're coming to sparty-on?!  Finally!  My national recruiting is recgonized!

Hoke whispers:  Tell him you thought of him because you're in the shitter.

Kyle:  No, I'm going to commit to Michigan.  I thought of you because I'm in the shitter.

(Kyle and Hoke try to contain their chuckles)

Dantonio:  Is that coach Hoke in the background?

(Hoke whispers to Kyle, laughing)  Say no! Say no!

Kyle:  No, that's just someone outside the stall door.  Totally unrelated.

(Dantonio takes one of his assistant's phones and calls Hoke.  Hoke's distinguishable ring tone, Xplosive by Dre, plays loudly)

Dantonio:  I can hear Hoke's ring tone!  Damnit Hoke!  Why do you have to keep doing this to me?  Stop with the crank calls!

Hoke:  Hang up!  Hang up!

Hoke and Kyle burst into laughter.

"Fuck you, Michigan." - Harvey Updyke

"Logan, you see that Best Buy right there, I have an asst. manager job with your name on it until next semester. Because, I, I care about your future as a football player, and as a person." -Nick Saban

"That god damn recruit said he was taking his talents to AA! I didn't know they let under 18 year olds into AA. His momma ought to be ashamed for letting her son get addicted to alcohol." -Random Alabama fan

"We better beat that god damn team at the Kickoff Classic now or I'm going to Medical Scholarship this entire team, god damn it! I can't believe I'm losing to these god damn guys on the recruiting trail. First Bosch and Dawson, now LTT? What more can I offer than a chance at the NFL?"

The best part about Kyle Bosch commiting this weekend for me is that Sparty really thought they would get him and he would probably be the crown jewel of their class.

"He's going to be a Spartan, just like me!"

"LOL KIDDING!!!!!"

Not saying he's going to go to Ohio State. What I'm saying is that if we are done for OL(I don't believe we are), then I don't see State as the next destination for Pocic's services when he has offers from OSU, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Clemson (he has so many, I didn't know what to list). That is all.

I dislike Dantonio as much as the next guy, but I doubt that he would really say anything negative to Bosch. He hasn't played for Michigan yet (or signed hi LOI...knock on wood) and is a kid that Dantonio has formed a relationship with. Probably was respectable.

I actually had him pegged as closer to the Grinch.  The only thing missing are termites in his smile.

Of course, the Grinch ultimately proves to be a loveable and endearing character, whereas Dantonio is just creepy and awkward.  I have  to believe just being in his presence has to make anyone uncomfortable.

I honestly hope we've moved on from the Kozan recruitment. With the bounty of OL we've landed over the weekend there is no longer a need for Kozan. I have a feeling he grades out below all four of the guys who committed.

Btw, I'm ecstatic over the LTT signing. And I can't help but look back now at Diamond's recruitment and think that the writing was on the wall all the throughout. When a kid really loves a school ala LTT he won't risk dragging out the recruitment all the way to the final bell. LTT saw what went down this weekend and rather than risk losing his spot at the finest university in the country he decided to change his timeline and pull the trigger immediately. I can't help but love that kid for it...

You do know that, other than maybe Dawson, none of this weekend's recruits project to center, right?

Posted this in the Kozan thread too:

I'll happily welcome him into the fold if/when he chooses to Go Blue.  I still fail to believe the lack of understanding of the stress a teenager could feel making what must feel like a huge commitment and likely the biggest decision of his life.

Just like it was tiring hearing the whiners talk about "not closing" our top 10/top 5 recruiting class, the folks who continue to throw out statements about Kozan not being 100% committed and moving on prove tedious as well.

Kozan is a great prospect and plays a position of need.  I couldn't care less if it takes him two months to decide.  I hope to see him on the field in the Big House sometime soon!

Remember that we still haven't solved our Center problem. Move Dawson or one of the 2012 guards over and these kids are a long way off from playing. I would still like to have Kozan so he can start at center. I also highly doubt that kid is coming to Michigan, what is taking so long to make a decision?

I really think Chris Fox has an excellent chance, at least on Rivals.  He has a 6.0 ratings right now, which is comparable to Morris.  I personally also think Logan Tuley-Tillman should be very close as his offer list is incredible.  A lot will depend on how these guys do at the Big Man camps this Summer.  It sure will be fun watching all of these commits over the next year!

If you head over to Touch the Banner you'll see Magnus' scouting report on LTT and I tend to agree with him. I think the reason he's pulled in so many huge offers is two-fold. One, he was very active in getting his tape out, making visits, and pulling in these offers instead of waiting for teams to come to him. And two, he has a TON of upside due to his speed and the way his body carries his weight. However, at this time he is still very raw, and while the rankings project, they also take his current skill set into account. I really think he's perfectly placed right in the 100 range.
