Expectations have changed?

Have your expectations changed?  Mine have.  Off night for Nova, no doubt, but we saw what we are capable off too. Perhaps the blog’s wrap up will bring me back down.  I don’t, we looked good and this D is tremendous, stupendous really.

This was a hugely impressive win and Michigan looked dominant defensively. They basically looked liked this year's football team. At the same time, was anyone else surprised at the lack of athleticism on Nova's roster? Paschall is a monster but why, for instance, is that Gillespie guy starting for a program that has won two of the last three national titles?

The B1G will be better than projected, but this team has much more talent than many people thought. It won’t be easy though a B1G title is doable.

I’m not sure if the 3s will start falling, however, this team can drive and move the ball around as well as anyone, and if all else fails, the defense can grind out a few ugly ones.

Definitely have changed but not drastically.  For me, I was hopeful for a good year.  Now I'm confident of a good year.  Actually believe we could be in the conference hunt now where I originally thought our offense was too weak to have that conversation realistically beforehand.

Last year was a shock. This felt like 2013-14, but better, with the runner-up year happening before the great recruiting class. Iggy is ready to go on both ends like no one since Jalen as a true freshman. This should always have been the prohibitive favorites in the B1G, but the media always underestimate Beilein.

The D is legit. I’m confident that Belein can get the offense to a better level. Virginia is not what I want to be. By March you need offense to win and shooters to hit big shots. The intensity of last night would be tough to bring in a tournament with the number of games with little rest. But that was a group of junkyard dogs on D last night.

My expectations have not changed...  it is National Championship or bust in both Basketball and Football!  It has been a long 10 years since RR came to town and we are long past due to start collecting on past debts.  Thankfully basketball has given me some comfort through the last 10 years.

Knowing what we had coming back coupled with the expectation of what was coming in I knew this team would be a B1G contender. I did think they would go through some growing pains and like most JB teams would get better as the year went on. I did not expect last night and as great as it was I don't want to get overly excited......but it's really hard not to.

I think all the worries about the offense are overwrought. This is a different type of team than we're used to seeing and will find different ways to score. By the middle of the season I think they will be playing better than last year's team. That may not lead to an appearance in the championship game though, as that takes a little bit of luck too.

Absolutely.  Expectations have changed.  Expectations should change....

When you can defeat the NC team, a Big East team, by 25+ points ON THEIR HOME COURT, you know you have a damn good team.  So, the new expectations:

1. Win the regular season B1G

2. Win the B1G tourney

3. Get at least a #2 seed in the NCAA tourney.

4. Anything less than a sweet sixteen will be a disappointment.

5. An appearance in the Final Four is now within reach.

Those are the new expectations.  Those are appropriate expectations.

If you are someone who changes expectations after every big win (or loss), especially this early into the season, I suspect you will be changing your expectations often.

not...really?

i figured we'd be a typical recent beilein team...inconsistent early, a very tough out late.  i still expect that we'll lose at least a couple of 51-48 games where we the shots don't fall but the defense keeps us in it.

i see us less as as a 1-2-3 seed than as a 4-5 that nobody wants, up to and including duke / kansas / et al.
