Per ESPN: We're fairly happy; Staee fans are miserable

Michigan is the 22nd happiest fanbase in the country.  I trust that in the next two or three seasons (after more double-digit win seasons and hopefully some B1G championships to boot) that our joy will propel us into the top-10, whatever that's worth.

Staee fans, on the other hand, are #115 in the country (third lowest Power Five).  This time last year, they were crowing about their recent success, which no doubt was substantial.  But now they're ready to look for a high bridge.  I guess that's what happens when you base the entirety of your emotions on how another program is doing.

It's really fucking sad.

"Hey! Look at your team! We have animated emojies that represent how you should feel about your team! We even included a boilerplate 60-word summary about how your fanbase feels! Click it! The emojies jump and smile or scowl!"

The only one that's really inaccurate (which I've seen just initially from a quick browse) is UCLA. They are definitely not "Elated." Just read any article on Bruinsnation.

Edit: And Maryland fans are Skeptical? Minnesota fans are Distraught?? Ok, this list just went south in credibility real fast.

I haven't watched ESPN save for actual college football games in 5 years.  The BTN covers all my in season college football news needs.

If it weren't for actual games on that network I don't think I'd ever feel the need to tune in.

Used to love PTI & Around the Horn...now, I don't even watch Sportscenter..occasionally I'll catch an Outside the Lines or 30 for 30. If it wasn't for live games..I wouldn't bother. Same with their website.

To note though, I care about Michigan football exponentially more than all other sports combined, so their passing interest in non-SEC related CFB has lost me.

I think that's the point he's making. No one cares about the in-studio discussion nearly as much as the actual games, and ESPN broadcasts lots of games with higher production quality than most competitors. E.g. consider your typical BTN announcing team.

Meh, their website coverage has tailed way off over the past year. Their Big Ten Blog for example goes days between posts at this point. That's unacceptable this close to the season. They should just drop the blogs all together if they are going to put no effort into them.

is an abomination. When you try to be all things for all people, you end up being nothing for nobody. There's way too many videos and "insider" content. If I want to read something about a specific sport, I usually head to that sport's dedicated website, e.g. MLB.com for baseball.

It's cute and all but I have no idea how they come up with some of the measurables.   How are we only a 68 in recruiting, but and 80 in Rivalry dominance?    I guess we have really dominated those Minnesota and Illinois rivalries that we hold so dear.

rivalry dominance?  Cuz it def can't be recent if we're that high.

That must be heavily weighted in the rankings because K State is 5th (!!) despite being pretty mediocre at everything except keeping BIll Snyder on payroll and beating Kansas.

I guess it makes sense.  If your expectations aren't to win conference titles and go to the playoff, all you'd really care about it beating your rival.

The recruiting trend baffles me unless it's based on expectations that we should have the #1 class year in and year out. Regarding rivalry dominance, you clearly missed the Illinois and Rutgers games last season...
