Thanks for the reminder.  Just sent to a bunch of friends.

I know that this sounds incredibly stupid (and perhaps it is), but in voting for M in these silly ESPN polls, I feel like I am doing my part to help the team.  Why, you hypothetically ask?  Because 16-17 year old kids want to play at schools that they consider "cool."  Things like "best fight song" (we are almost always top 2-3), best helmets (we usually win), winningest program ever, etc., contribute to our "cool" factor with kids.  Having the "best traditions" is along the same concept.

Like I said, this probably has the most miniscule effect on recruiting, if any, but if it even slightly influences a single kid who is on the fence between us and MSU, Wisco, Iowa, PSU or OSU, then why not.

We're clearly better at the Internet than the Clemson crowd.

I mean honestly, how much tradition can a team named the "Tigers" really have? Unless you're talking about uniformity and blandness being a tradition, we win hands down.

1 National Title (1981)

59% Winning Percentage

They play in the ACC

The real question is...why does anyone really care about Clemson?  They are so overrated every year IMO.  As far as traditional goes, I put Michigan up against any school - ESPECIALLY a mediocre ACC school like Clemson.

The M Club banner in the video must be secured exceptionally tightly, because it isn't bending, rippling in the wind, or reacting to being touched by the players.

prospect is anxiously awaiting getting his 13-year-old hands on a copy of NCAA 2012.  While he waits, he devours every bit of college football information he can procure from the internet.  He doesn't know it, but he's still relatively susceptible to marketing and peer pressure.  He will be his own man soon enough, but for now, his perception is driven by public interpretation.

I would like that young man to see our players touching the banner with the same reverence that I do.  That's why these votes are so important.  In the end, he'll end up being blue because of all our hard work.  If he isn't, then I'll say "fuck him, he's not a true Michigan Man."
