If you were a part of the group last year, all you have to do is create an entry and choose to rejoin the group.

Congratulations to kirby0013 for wining last years challenge. What methods do people use to make their picks?

This year, I am probably going to pour over TeamRankings and make picks, so my bracket might be a last-tminute entry. Last year, my submission to this was one of my infamous (as in, infamously not all that accurate) "upset" brackets and I apparently do not fare all that well when I de-emphasize the numbers and do an intuitive (well, anti-intuitive) bracket.

I'm just sad the Quicken Loans/Berkshire Hathaway contest isn't happening this year. This was going to be the year I beat those nine quintillion to one odds and I wanted the payday.

I might protest by making a few incorrect picks.

Can anyone give me one team to pick instead of UK?  I seriously don't see how anyone beats them.

Nightmare matchup for any team.  Size.  Depth.  Guard play (Ullis is an insane backup PG).  3 point shooting (Booker/Harrison).

I haven't seen much of Nova; but I can't see any of the other 1 seeds staying with them.

That's who I kind of want to say too.  But then I think of the guard matchup with Gossard/Keonig versus the Harrisons, Devin Booker, and Tylor Ulis.  UW's guards just can't match up athletically.  And the defense of MCW, KAT, and Dakari Johnson is plenty of length and agility to slow Kaminsky and Hayes down.  Those UW guys aren't exactly dominant rebounders either.

It's possible they'd give Kentucky a game; but I've got to think UK'd be the heavy favorite.

Nobody beats Kentucky by winning the matchups--that's suicide. Whoever beats Kentucky does it by avoiding the high ball screen (UK's far and away the best at defending that, which is a big advantage since it's all a lot of teams seem to run) and running off-ball stuff that's harder for them to defend. You have to have shooters and you have to know how to get them open looks.

That could be Wisconsin, although they've run more ball-screen this year than I can ever remember (it's effective with Kaminsky, obvously). Iowa State would be perfect but it would have to be the final.
