ESPN Top 10 ... fail

Submitted by MGoGrendel on

ESPN Top 10 this morning had a couple of sweet hockey goals, a one handed touchdown catch, and a couple of nice college basketball plays.  Each play was shown several times with different angles and slow motion (business as usual).  Number 1 was a complete fail – just a simple dunk by Sparty.  It was only a few seconds long followed by a snarky comment by the ESPN host before cutting to commercials.

They should have used Wagner’s ankle breaking crossover and lay-up late in the game with the score close.  Here is the article with this video and others, including a “Dirk impression”: https://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2018/1/13/16888492/michigan-vs-michigan-state-basketball-moritz-wagner-crossover-dunk-dirk-fade

I will try to embed the video below.   Meanwhile, here’s is a snapshot of Sparty on the floor – looks like a sniper took him out!

Had to lay off all those people. No one wants to watch them anymore. They are a garbage sports outlet now. Also they only cover what’s “hot”, they don’t do anything important.

Great dunk but could care less if it was the "number 1" highlight...Results speak louder than highlights and Michigan took the victory.

Couldn't agree more with those saying there is a bias and ESPN only reports on "hot" takes.  They got away from what made them great and that is reporting on sports.

The passing of Keith Jackson (and the ridiculous numbers of clips I watched) caused me to evaluate Gus Johnson.  He's very annoying.  There's way too much Gus.  The game isn't about the announcer -- we don't need Gus (or Dick Vitale) making the game about themselves.

Part of Keith Jackson's greatness was letting the game have air, and the audience have an experience that wasn't just Keith.  But when Keith said something, it was great.

Less is more.  The crowd going wild and having just a hint of the feeling of being their as opposed to sitting next to the most annoying fan is a much better experience.
