ESPN - B10 Ranking #2 Denard Robinson
Was holding out hope they would give him #1, prolly should be obvious to me but I can't think who they would have at #1 other than him.

No shock, Jared Crick will be #1.

Agreed. It looks like another strong year for B1G d-linemen. Congrats to Denard on #2 though. It's more important to be #1 AFTER the season.

Hehe.

Congrats to Denard,....number 2 isn't bad. In terms of impact, while a D lineman can be disruptive, there is virtually no way that Crick's impact can be as great as a QB with Denard's running skills.

Tell me about it AFTER Crick is the Big Ten Player of the Year over Denard. Your comparison is invalid, because you are comparing a pre-season regional award to a post-season national award.

Talk to me after Crick returns a punt for a touchdown and catches a few passes on offense.
Woodson didn't win the Heisman just for his play on defense. Tennessee fans probably would have had a point if he had.

Tennessee fans lost the Peyton argument when he couldn't beat Florida. Losing to your rival when you have a great team makes it hard to take you seriously as the best player in America, especially when the guy you are competing against is putting up a better season and winning championships.

Jared Crick is no Charles Woodson.
August 27th, 2011 at 12:38 AM ^
with the pick six he threw for the 89 yard return. Up to a 14 point swing in a 13 point loss.
In big games, Charles made game-winning plays. Peyton can't say that.

If Crick lives up to the hype that he is the next Suh (and he played pretty well last year) then he can have quite a big impact.
Just look at what Suh did to Texas in the Big 12 Championship game a couple years ago. He terrorized Colt McCoy for much of the game thus having a huge impact from the defensive side of the ball.

but not at the level of Suh. I would say 3 DTs in the last few years have played at a high level in college ball is Suh, McCoy and Fairley. All are unblockable one on one and command double teams and made a ton of splash play.
Crick is a 1st rounder but not as a 4-3 DT, but more of a 3-4 DE in the next level.

Jared Crick over Denard? What a crock!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
I just hope Crick is not on Crack when we play them, that would be a crock.

Great for Denard and Crick is one amazing player.

Can't argue with that. Not looking forward to facing Crick.

Just sounds dirty.

As Rodney Dangerfield said, Watch out for #1, but don't step in #2 (or something like that)

I think Denard got hoseddd. If this is a preseason ranking of players ability and what they have done. No one deserves #1 more than Denard. Look what the kid did to my beloved Irish... Denard should be #1 hands down.
