Equipment: Michigan to wear pink gear Saturday (confirmed).....
Not only was the loss last week annoying but them not wearing the pink gear like I had said was a big egg on my face. I figured since it was their last October game, they would wear it then since that actual makes sense.
Well, it looks like they're going with the option that makes no sense.
Michigan will wear their pink gear on Saturday for breast cancer awareness month. Saturday is November. Breast cancer awareness month is October.
Unless Michigan plans on wearing white socks at home for the first time since UTL I, they will not be wearing these:
By the looks of this picture tweeted by @umichfootball
they'll be wearing a new version of the pink gloves. I have not seen these anywhere on the internet.
Also, Michigan will wear a non-Maize or White mouthguard for the first time. We're getting closer to touching the actual uniforms, people.
Here's the coaches gear that was posted recently

on the uniforms like they did on the press release picture?

October is breast cancer awareness month.
November is breast cancer aware, but not fully aware month.

I saw the pink gear on Friday in the locker room, so I knew about it. But I didn't know it was going to be on the field Saturday.

New banner?

You break our uniforms, I breaka' you face.

So sick of all the pinkwashing. This does absolutely nothing for breast cancer research!

Dave - do something right for once and nix this.

With an incredible amount of points! Jeez!
October 30th, 2014 at 5:40 PM ^
No big. He would have gotten a million points on his own in a couple of months anyway, what with Christmas shopping season approaching.

Relieved they didn't wear pink during the MSU game, although they should have.
October 30th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
MSU of hating Cancer Research?
Ehh, but the jokes still would have been unbearable. Little Sister. In Pink.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:17 AM ^
Might as well get beat by Eye You while wearing pink kits.
FREE HARBAUGH!
October 30th, 2014 at 11:20 AM ^
How do you fuck up Breast Cancer Awareness to the point you're paying tribute in November? Thank you again for providing the wow factor with potential of being made fun of again by the national media Dave.
October 30th, 2014 at 12:03 PM ^
Cut Special Teams/(Events?) coordinator Dan Ferrigno some slack for his choice of the date.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:22 AM ^
I think we should go with football helmets with mustaches for November to raise awareness for uniquely male cancers (testicular and prostate) and other health issues. Maybe have 'stache wings on the helmets...
Salvador Dali was certainly ahead of his time on this one...

First of all, I think all the pink stuff is stupid. Instead of buying pink stuff, Michigan ought to be just donating the same amount of money to cancer research.
HOWEVER, who really cares whether we wear pink stuff on Nov. 1 or Oct. 31? It's one day away, and it's not like people are going to tune in and say "Hey, they're wearing pink in November? This certainly doesn't have anything to do with breast cancer awareness. Michigan must have changed their school colors!"
October 30th, 2014 at 11:35 AM ^
The point isn't that Michigan donning some pink gear will bewilder the public. You're right, the public will know it's for breast cancer awareness, and they'll likely glean that Michigan's colors are still maize and blue.
The point is that this is so squarely under Brandon's purview, and he can't even get the month right. Mr. Marketing, who is so plugged into the brand, marketing, and the like can't even get this right. This is, in MBA-speak, supposed to be his core-competency. And he's botched it.
Am I pissed? Not at all. Do I think it's a major deal? Not really.
Am I amused? Oh yeah. I'm amused.
October 30th, 2014 at 12:20 PM ^
The fact that I had to scroll down this far to finally find someone willing to point out how little one day matters. Geez people there's plenty of actual screw-ups and bad things to complain about. Focus on those.
October 30th, 2014 at 12:29 PM ^
@Magnus
You need to understand. There is nothing that Michigan can do right now that will not be jumped on by the wolves, good or bad. Dave Brandon could donate all his money back to Michigan, apologize for each "mistake" he made, and walk out the door with his tail between his legs and people would still want to bring him back just so he could be fired.
That's what happens when you are losing in football...

You're one of those tools who fucks up at work and then invents a whole elaborate story to shift the blame, aren't you?

ad hominem -
(of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.
from google.
Sense you have time and time again shown that you would rather criticize me using juvenile techniques such as name calling (interesting since you have told me in the past to "grow up"), and since I have seen no attempt on your part to engage in a reasonable conversation (instead you continue to claim that I am a nut-hugger, immature, boneheaded, humblebraggart, in addition to many other implied negative character traits), this will be the last time that I respond to you.
So there.

You still don't understand a goddamn thing. Again, I've never said that you're wrong simply because you're an idiot. I don't have to. You've already been shown to be wrong; your insane love affair with all things Brady Hoke and beyond is just fucking up your noodle.
Furthermore, you haven't actually been reading my posts. I have explained twice why I don't engage in "reasonable conversation" with you on this topic. It's the same reason I don't discuss science with a geocentrist. There's no point. You're already too far gone.

But I'll try anyway: Mark Dantonio is pissed that U of M didn't show Breast Cancer the proper respect it deserved in due time (October) and has used this as fuel to get them to kick Bye week's ass.
Also, "Year of Infinte Stupididty" is the best description I've seen. Thank you Skapanza.

Appropriate.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:28 AM ^
Breast cancer aware, but not fully breast cancer aware.
Edit: I was not fully aware that the joke was already made a few times.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:26 AM ^
The only choice in October was Penn State...It makes sense to do it Saturday since the PSU game had special jerseys. Hell do it the first game. It doesn't really matter. Just because October is breast cancer awareness month doesn't mean you have to do it during that month.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:28 AM ^
Damn't. Beat me to the punch by 2 minutes.
October 30th, 2014 at 2:49 PM ^
...for fucking up the schedule to the point where we play STAEE on the road in consecutive years and otherwise botching the home schedule, right?
Make all the excuses you want...it makes us look like we "didn't get the memo" RE: pink month.
Good executives plan ahead. Or so I'm told.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:28 AM ^
Does it really matter when awareness is raised for breast cancer research? So what if Michigan is going to wear pink the first month of November. On what planet are regular people going to make fun of Michigan for raising awareness for breast cancer research on the wrong day, other than some of you of course? Calm down.

Every time somebody tunes in they see pink, ask themselves why, and arrive at the answer, "breast cancer awareness." These same people aren't immediately thinking they need to run out and buy some pink Michigan gear. I understand the cynicism, but it's misplaced here.

Just go with a playlist exclusively made up of hits (and non-hits) by the artist Pink.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:43 AM ^
But I really hope it doesn't further make them play like boobs.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:54 AM ^
But even if the players were boobs, I think they'd be fine if we just got rid of the cancer.

So sayeth the Brandon, so sayeth we all!
As you may not be fully aware, Breast Cancer Awareness months jersey wearing wasn't broken.. so he broke it..
N'est-ce pas?
October 30th, 2014 at 11:59 AM ^
Don't really see how this is a big deal, or even a fuck-up. We had one home game in October, and it was UTL III. Would you have preferred we wear pink that night?
There's plenty of good reasons to be upset with the AD and football program. This is not one of them.

Millionaires using breast cancer to make money!
October 30th, 2014 at 12:06 PM ^
I really wish we could just wear maize and blue, but... There's money to be made to pay for the administration of breast cancer charities, so this is what we do.
As much as I hate cancer, these things aren't even really about cancer as much as marketing and fundraising for charities that barely give any money to actual research. Cynical, but true when you actually look at the data.
October 30th, 2014 at 12:07 PM ^
Dave Brandon is aware they are wearing pink in November...but not fully aware
October 30th, 2014 at 12:35 PM ^
I'll say one thing about the board. When we latch our teeth into a meme (Cork Cousins, selling jersey's in Ohio, Weeeellllll, ect) and now aware but not fully aware, we beat the everloving shit out of the joke until it's dead.
