Well, I'm torn. He's a really good back, but he's always wearing black and he's always fucking depressed and listening to The Smith's and painting his fingernails and wearing white face make-up...

You're thinking of Emo Benjamin.
Eno Benjamin is the high school running back who is really into experimental ambient, somewhat electronic music and sound effects. He collaborates with that guy from the Talking Heads on stuff. Totally different guy.

I mean, Harbaugh is about to save this kid's knee from AIRBHG. This is a mission of mercy.

Not to jinx Iowa, but AIRBHG has been kind of dormant the last year plus.

Agreed. He missed his chance to commit to UM. But, if any of the current commits statuses change and/or we miss arent able to land Akers or Harris, he can definitely be an option if he's still available at that time.

I went to college at Graceland University in Lamoni Iowa back in the mid/late 80's during Hayden Fry's heyday with Chuck Long. I once wrote to the DesMoines Register ripping the Hawkeyes schedule and got phone calls and letters from angry fans. It was hysterical.

Michigan, Mizzou and ASU.
I'd show interest too if those were my primary options.

I imagine he has more options - why he listed Mizzou and ASU I don't know

at the time, it seemed like we wouldn't take his commitment. Hard to see how that's changed. I'm glad he's still interested though. You never know how things will turn out in recruiting.

What? He didn't want to be the next Iowa RB to juke Purdue?

General question. Why are we taking so many running backs this cycle? With 3 committed already, Walker, Evans, Higdon, and Davis already enrolled, and Isaac coming back for another year, there is quite a stable of backs already. I understand if we pick up one of Harris, Akers, or Carr since they are elite, but I dont know if Benjamin would fit that category.
October 23rd, 2016 at 9:33 PM ^
Well Isaacs presence doesn't really impact this class RB recuriting since he is gone in a year. Evans and Higdon seem pretty set as a 1-2 punch for next year. Walker is a wildcard, as it's unclear right now what his situation will be going forward. There is no guarantee that Davis will be kept at RB, given how the depth chart may pan out...who knows becoming FB may be more desirable than initially thought given how much Hill has scored this year.
So, based on our usage of RBs this year, having 4 potential options in the rotation seems fine with the staff.
