Sam Webb debunked this today on WTKA.  The fact he is the only guard Michigan is likely to take is one thing.  The other is all the other things that have preoccupied the coaches in the last month.  Most likely nothing to worry about.  Sam said he isn't.

alabama is putting the full court press on him. god only knows what they are telling him. coaches can never comment, which is the reason so many strange stories on recruiting get started. michigan offered and he commited. what more needs to be done?

Pretty sure Sam Webb touched on this in the recruiting insider today. The staff basically stopped recruiting the Guard position after he committed and even turned down at least one guy who was pretty high profile and would have been of interest if not for Ekiyor's commitment.

That being said, Sam's take is that the staff will show their interest more in the near future and forward. They've been heavily focused on the 2019 class while pushing out a ton of offers there, so the assumption is that the contact with recruits has been mostly towards 2019 recruits.

measurables not equal to his 4* rating. Southern OL guys tend to be way overrated and under-measured. My guess is he isn't' close to 6'2" and 330lbs and does not have the frame to be a B1G guard.

Closer to 6'2 and 330 with a 5.75 40 time ... not really a 4* on the measurables. I think Frey likes hsi OL bigger frame guys with more athleticism - like 6'5 with a 40 time in the 5.2 range.

Ekiyor isn't being slow-played. I think this has been overblown. He's having some mixed feelings, because other big-time programs are coming after him.

It is baffling how you can come to that conclusion with any degree of certainty. This is the second time Ekiyor has indicated that Michigan has not been in contact with him much. Both times Ekiyor was quoted as having doubts about Michigan's interest in him, So that is coming straight from his mouth.

Also, lack of communication with recruits has been oddly common under Harbaugh. If this comes as a surprise to anyone, they haven't been paying attention.

3 days ago Brandon Brown wrote an article mentioning Ekiyor's concern over contact with the staff.  Land of 10's article, as usual, is simply regurgitating Brown's paywalled info.  If those are first and second times you are reffering to, this is just two mentions of the same comments.

Is there another time that Emil Ekiyor mentioned communication problems that I'm not aware of?

With it being reported that Michigan has the largest staff in CFB, it seems as though they would keep a good PR person in charge of keeping in contact with all commits and highly coveted recruits . Unfortunately I have heard the same things being mentioned (supposedly) by other recruits in the past. Why havent we solved this problem, or is it a problem?

I can remember us having lost a few good athletes based on supposed lack of contact.  If its tru, this contact thing needs to be addressed immediately. I would really like to see this kid play here and all we have to do is keep in touch? Keep Bama and OSU on the outside looking in? Nothing high maintenance about that when our biggest competitors are showing them major love.

Finally, The huge OL recruit at IMG could be the biggest find in football in the last 10 years but I havent heard a lot about us keeping after him, I have heard that everybody wants him now. He should be all Michigan. We're the only team that went to Austrailia to mine. We spent time and money going. We have been recruiting Eykior and Muhammad for years now,  Lets not strike gold and assume no one will try to take our claim while we are away.

What part of my statement was inaccurate? I agree with Albatross in that I hear this quite often and I'm wondering whats the problem? If anyone has info. Please share. Athletes  like attention from the school that they are committed to. Sure it sounds a little diva-esk but probably a small price to pay to avoid losing your recruit.. We know teenagers have short attention spans, I'm just asking are we playing that facet of the game well enough?

Brian mentioned this the other day. Brian mentioned he has a visit coming up soon and we will know for sure after that. Also, you don't slow play a top 100 OL. Maybe The staff isn't talking to many commits at this point. Focusing on targets and 2019 offers at this time, camps soon, etc.

And if Ekiyor is ready, we want you big fella! Go enjoy your last summer of high school and don't sweat it!
