Elysee Mbem-Bosse disturbing tweets

Submitted by NashvilleBLUE on

[ED-Seth: Cleaned up this thread a bit. If it gets out of hand we'll lock it.]

Mbem-Bosse appeared to have lost his mind on Twitter last night and started posting some pretty crazy things that have now since been deleted. Does anyone know what they were referring to? I've only been able to find the following tweets but supposedly there were quite a few before this that were pointed directly at Michigan. Anyone know what's going on?

Edit: thanks to a poster below I was able to find them all. They are more disturbing than I thought. They are directed at Harbaugh and seem to be Threats of gun violence.

Edit 2: looks like the police are investigating https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/20…

So, the police are going to check on this guy right? That's a thing that we do when people make violent threats? Or are we not doing that yet?

Based on the tweets posted in this thread he has not committed a crime...yet. His threats are not contemporaneous. For example if he said, “I’m going to shoot person X tomorrow” - that could be a criminal threat. However, his (possible) threat is conditional in various ways and couched in terms of “next time.” He should be disciplined however, and in my opinion, absent an extraordinary set of mitigating circumstances, dismissed from the team today.

still think it is very close.  Communicating threats over an electronic device is a charge in and of itself, and I don't think those threats need to be "contemporaneous" with anything except for reasonable apprehension on the part of the target or recipient.

“It’s on tomorrow” could certainly be construed by a reasonable person to be a threat made to put them in apprehension of imminent harm.

Someone go check on this kid now. Whether it’s a teammate, a coach, his family, or even the police if necessary.

Seen way too many horror stories on the 6pm news. Don’t want to find out the hard way that we were wrong and he wasn’t just having a twitter rant.

Angelique Chengelis was tweeting Al Washington presser stuff and he was in there replying to her with weird crap. "Ask him about me", and "When is the next one" and "Can anybody go to these", etc.

Looks likes he's lost it...

Get that young man some serious help before he does something else stupid and ends up in the Pen.

Sadly though this kind of thing isn't even all that surprising these days.

I would advise taking this VERY seriously.   Dismissming a player from a team is basically no different than firing someone at work and regardless of the circumstances and how much "management" may feel the person deserved it, the individual in this case feels otherwise.

Clearly he is making not-so-veiled threats at Harbaugh and the authorities should move quickly to deal with him directly.

Having been in the situation in my past where a disgruntled ex-employee (drug-addict, caught stealing money) held me responsible for the consequences of their insanely bad life choices I would advise Harbaugh to take extra precaution until this nut-job is no longer a potential threat.  It's very frightening to live through and not funny at all.

If you read the tweets it sounds like he broke some sort of team rule to deal with a family crisis, was suspended for breaking the team rule and got pissed that they weren't considerate of him doing what he needs to do for his family. The staff sent someone to his house to speak with him and he was pissed off and didn't want them there and called the cops and said next time he'd handle it himself with a gun.

It sounds to me like something has gone down with his family that threw him off, michigan didn't handle it with a ton of sympathy immediatley and when trying to make it right/take care of bosse he took it wrong and it sent a kid in a fragile place in the wrong direction. People shitting on bosse should probably take a step back though, family trauma can be incredibly hard to deal with and if you are working with someone dealing with trauma and don't handle it in a trauma informed way you can certainly do more harm.

I laid out the timeline of events based on the tweets because that was not immediatley clear and people were making comments above that were pretty off base and there was some serious shitting on of him. I get you can't threaten people and there needs to be a punishment and it needs to be taken seriously. But it was also clear that a young person was dealing with some serious shit in his family and some sympathy and support around that is more likely to lead to a positive outcome than  writing him off as a bad person.

None of us know exactly what happened, we likely never will. You can still piece together a timeline of events and that is what I posted. Sorry that bothers you.

of mental and emotional meltdown and perhaps his "timeline" may be skewed, if not outright delusional.

Given everything we know about out staff, not to mention the praise and discussion around the Devon Bush family matter, I find it hard to believe that our coaches kicked this guy off the team because he had to deal with a family emergency.

If so, then we have bigger issues at Michigan than our football team.

trauma informed care is a model of care that involves specific training to recognize signs of trauma, identify triggers, and work with the person in a way that is understanding of what is driving the behavior and not compound the problem. It is used to work with people dealing with PTSD, kids who have experience traumatic events, etc. Its a recognized model of practice that a range of trainings around exist though their isn't one specific model or suite of treatments, its an approach that recognizes the impact truama has on brain chemistry and the actions of those who have been impacted by trauma.

I have sympathy for the kid, and want to wait to find out the story before making any judgments, but it sounds like he dealt with whatever this trauma was by threatening somebody with a gun. If that's the case, then he should absolutely be booted off the team and out of school.

He’s been tweeting some off the rails stuff for a couple weeks now. It reads to me like a former roommate of mine who developed a mental disorder within a short timespan.

"They sent someone to my crib before. I was nice enough to call the cops next time I'm calling the morgue."  That tweet got 2 "likes".  Everything about this is very concerning.

G'bye!

Edit: what's really needed, obviously, is someone close to him reaching out to help this guy. We are all broken in one way or another, but without the pressure that comes with the high stakes of this guy's life. I hope he finds a good path.

The maniac just threatened all kinds of people with gun violence, including Harbaugh.  Hopefully the police are already at his door, have already put handcuffs on the nutjob, and hauled his psycho-ass off to county.

Welp, that's pretty bad.

There's a lot we don't know. We don't know what the source issues are, what his interactions have been with staff, what his family problem was. Lots of stuff.

We don't know if there is a "mental disorder" here or just someone with no filter who is typing in anger or something else.

We do know that umbig11 had mentioned that EMB was in Schembechler Hall before spring practice began, and that he felt it was relevant enough to make a special note of.

I think we can safely conclude that EMB is not happy with Michigan's staff, and that he has expressed it publicly in ways that are very, very poor. Hard to conclude much more than that.

Thanks for the open scholarship!

Honest opinion is to chill out. If there was a family emergency you communicate with the staff and let them know. I bet he never did this. Everyone learns this lesson at some point and life is not fair. You dont lose your shit on social media and threaten your head coach. I have zero sympathy for whatever comes as a result of these actions.

I looked up his Instagram and he has videos up and Screenshots of his tweets on his story. In the videos he is rapping but it seems like there is a screw loose. I hope he gets some help, he doesn't look right mentally.
