Maybe he was too busy taking a dead program with an indifferent fan base and in 4 seasons taking it within a half of playing for all the marbles? Too busy proving us wrong for thinking he was not ready for prime time?

He earned whatever opportunities he gets in the next few days through recent merit of achievement. That's the essence of greatness.

Results. Results. Results.  Even at a place like Stanford with a weak at best football tradition, he achored hope with wins over power teams early on.  Wins he guaranteed he would deliver at his very first press conference.

On the topic of Jim Harbaugh, there isn't a lot to say that his results don't scream.

I actually had a conversation with JH in Feb. 2008, shortly after RR was named head coach at Michigan.  Asked him about the coaching search, and he said Michigan did not approach him about the job.  He also said that he wouldn't have taken it even if they had approached him because he had a contract with Stanford.

This leads me to believe that there MAY be some merit to the JH rumors because of the way he is playing his Stanford contract situation.

I also walked away from my conversation with JH thinking he was a pretty standup guy that actually had a working moral compass.  I was encouraged by this since he will always be a representative of Michigan whether he comes here to coach or not.

I am personally on the fence about the whole CC situation.  I would like to see what RR can do with his young team next year, but after my conversation with JH, I like what he brings to the table.  The only thing I DO NOT want to see is RR let go without JH ready to step in.  The circus that resulted when we did that three years ago was too much for me to handle a second time.
