Eagles' Brandon Graham Does Not Sign Before Training Camp
If there is a cloud over the start of camp, it is that neither first-round pick Brandon Graham nor second-round pick Nate Allen was signed as of late Monday night and while Reid indicated that he thought Allen was closer to signing than was Graham, there was still no word late into the darkness. Both players need to be at camp. Both players are expected to help the team this year. Every day that goes by without them will be a day of concern.
But those deals will get done in time, hopefully sooner rather than later. The NFL needs to do something with this system, but that's another story for another day. What we're talking about here is making sure two young players are as prepared as possible to help this football team. Missing practices doesn't help Graham or Allen, or the Eagles.

What are you're thoughts? I understand why it is done. Just wish teams and agents could be more efficient.
BG wants to keep working out with Barwis rather than showing up at the Eagles puny workout facility.
Isn't Dez Bryant the only first round pick to sign so far?
How's that worked out for him? Cowboy's camp has been quiet.
I'm not really aware how it's worked out for him outside of ESPN blowing up a story about him not carrying his teammates pads. It's just not a big deal that Graham hasn't signed, reasons illustrated by Mega Man a couple posts below.
He probably doesn't want to carry Ernie Sims' pads.
I'm pretty sure every 1st round pick is just waiting around until Bradford does something. And when he signs for a billion dollars over the next 40 years, the rest of the rookies will jump at the crumbs.
And then the NFL will be in lockout mode next year, Suh will bolt for the Arena League and kill the starting QB for the Orlando Predators, and the delicate circle of life will continue.
This is why Donovan Warren left early. Gotta get paid while there's still payin' goin' on.
S Donovan Warren signed a 3 year contract with the New York Jets on April 24, 2010. It is believed Warren received a $2,000 signing bonus. Base salaries are $320,000(2010), $405,000(2011), and $490,000(2012).

IMO. Had he stayed, those would have been a lot better.
If you can stay injury free, but most are not so fortunate. When you think of the possible medical bills after they stop playing. This really is not a lot. Just a more reasonable amount of money for the physical stress put on their bodies.
They're not exactly out in the cold on that front:

That notwithstanding, you're right that being a 40 year old retiree with a worn-out body is a shitty deal, no matter how much money you've got.
True, but the $2000 bonus is frightningly low and the price of being undrafted. Theres little security at all, they could just waive him tomorrow with no penalty. But if he sticks, he's got some bank
$322,000 poorer? also yes
Unfortunately, I dont think you can get much worse
Does anyone know how the pay scale works if he makes the practice squad, but not the active 53 man roster? Does he still make the $320,000?
I would guess that's where he might end up, kinda as a reserve guy who could be added to the regular roster if there's an injury.
I think I remember reading somewhere that practice squad players get paid a base rate per week, around $5k. But I'm not sure if that's only during the season or over the whole year, or what happens to his original contract if he get placed on the practice squad.
... he won't sign until the pick before him signs. so before any first rounder (dez bryant excluded) can sign, sam bradford has to get his deal done.
that the Lions aren't waiting for Bradford and wants Suh contract to be lower than Stafford's contract. They don't want a DT to be paid higher than a franchise QB's contract. Apparently it's for 35 million guaranteed money which is lower than Stafford's contract.
