Dymonte Thomas Update (Good)

Submitted by Steve Lorenz on

I won't post a link, but I just talked with Dymonte Thomas about a week or so after Eleven Warriors posted a short interview with him in which the consensus seemed to be that Urb's golden touch will bring Dymonte home to the Buckeyes. In short, it's nothing to worry about. He said he'd visit Columbus only to see Brionte and his brother, who is also a student at Ohio. When I asked him about Meyer/Dunn and their potential influences, his message was simple: They have no impact on me

I only posted this just in case some people caught the 11w interview and were a little concerned.

Everything. Update on a recruit? "OMG, like, I'm totes not following recruiting anymore. Aren't I so cool?" Update on a player? "OMG, like,  you totes didn't spell his uncle's cousin's brother's wife's best friend's daughter's aunt's name right" News about an opponent? "OMG, like, this is totes a Michigan blog not a Team X blog."

Seriously, if Mean Girls was a blog, this would be that blog. I can't believe I actually referred to Mean Girls on MGoBlog....

I might be in the minority but i do not feel it is unethical for a coach to keep contacting committed recruits unless the recruit tells them to back off. All is fair in recruiting unless you oversign because i feel that can really hurt the hs kids

I don't think it's unethical even if the recruit tells him to back off multiple times.  It's just annoying and a waste of time.  My problem is with him blatantly lying in saying it's not how he operates when the whole recruiting world knows it is.  If you're going to stay on the kids, fine.  At least save your lies for when you need them. He's pathological.

Many, if not most, of the top recruits would still wait until February.

....but it would give those that wanted a chance to end their recruitment so they can focus on their high school season and get other coaches out of their ear.

Funny how folks have so much hate for Urban now, as opposed to during the coaching search. If I recall correctly, he was choice 1, 2 and 3 for many people here. In any event, much like Pryor, I'm very happy he's not in A2.

Nothing wrong with changing opinions, but people are talking about Urban like he's among the slimiest in the biz.  If that's the case (and it certainly may be), then why the hell were people hyping him for the Michigan job?  So, it guess it is ALL CAPS WEIRD that folks could go from "we're doomed if we don't hire him" to "unethical, Urban Liar is all that is wrong with football".

Meyer contacting recruits after they've committed to another school in and of itself isn't so bad.  It's when the recruit, says stop calling and he keeps doing it, then it almost gets into that creepy stalkerish area.  And personally I like the input of RollDamnTide on our board, that being said if he would kindly stay off the board a couple of days after Bama-UM game, so we can mope it would be greatly appreciated.  I love Michigan, but we're all pretty much in agreement we'll play them tough, but Bama is at a different level talent wise right now.
