Michigan DC D.J. Durkin ready to sign deal with Maryland. Will meet with MD officials on Monday. http://ajerseyguy.com

Take this with a grain of salt I guess

Matt Campbell, a guy with a good head coaching record is going to Iowa state, a worse job than MD.  Lol at people thinking Durkin should hold off for a better job.  Letting a dislike of maryland being in the big ten making you look stupid.

This will come off as salty but I feel like with who we had returning defensively that we would have been as effective with mattison or another Harbaugh coach. Nothin taken from DJ, good luck to him!

Mostly not thrilled about him going to a team in the same division. Really don't need that.

Other than that happy he's getting his shot and am curious to see who would come in as a replacement.

Lol check Dontavious Jackson's latest tweet.

Like I said in another thread DJ is not leaving for a shit school in OUR OWN DIVISION. I'd put the overall chance he leaves after 1 year at 5%. It's not impossible, but I'm not believing any rumors until the ink dries somewhere.

Because there are very few head coaching jobs at P5 schools. Plus I'm sure he'll be getting a nice raise and going to a program that has a very fertile recruiting ground. You have to start your head coaching career somewhere and if he does a decent job with the terps he will get one of those coveted P5 jobs that everyone is talking about.

But a strange hire for Maryland. Durkin is a complete unknown. He lacks the track record of Narduzzi in part because he has only been a DC for three years. He has won no titles or fielded legendary defenses like Narduzzi. He is still a relative unknown. For Maryland that is in desperate need of a hire in order to be competitive in the Big Ten East this is a strange hire.

For what's it's worth, nobody seems all that excited at Maryland based on the couple of posts I've seen on it. It does seem a rumor more than a fact, as no Michigan insiders have commented on it. And let's be honest, Durkin hasn't had the best defensive showings the past couple of weeks, and Maryland is a tire fire now. I'd rather wait for a better program to pop up over them now.

I wonder who his OC will be, and if he'll try to run some form of Harbaugh's offense. That would be pretty cool.

Good riddance. You can have him md. I bet he goes 6-6 at his peak. If he does better he'll spend the week before their biggest game of the season shopping for his next job. If he does go, shows he is a total liar...saying he was 100% focused on osu.

Come get these takes while they're hot!!!

Is this how you felt after 3 shutouts? Or after we held Saquan Barkley to 12 yards after the first drive of that game? Or after we held MSU to under 2 ypc? Durkin coached a defense that put us in a position to win 11 games this year and you say "good riddance"? Not to pull a Brandon but I would much rather lose you as a Michigan fan than DJ as a coach.

I'm not denying he's a good coach. He's a fantastic defensive coordinator. And I don't expect coordinators to stay forever. But I don't like that he went after this job when he should have been preparing for Ohio state. The fact that he got called out at his presser last week and couldn't deny it proves he was already angling for his next job rather than trying to find a way to stop Elliot and Barrett.

I think if Jackson asked him about it he would give him an honest answer. It would reflect poorly on the program if he did not. Signing day is a long time away, so if he found out he had been lied to he would not come here. No incentive for Durkin to be dishonest.
