A Different but valid concern for the OSU game

Submitted by BluesinceNew on

Anybody else concerned that this years game is lacking a serious buzz?

Thousands of tickets are available (I assume they will be bought up by OSU fans) for cheap prices, rose bowl possibilities for OSU will most likely already be determined.

I think anyone who went to the Penn St. games know what a disaster the OSU game could be if any/all of the following are the same:

- result of game
- Weather
- abundance of away fans
- general silence of Michigan fans

Except this time its the biggest recruiting game of the year.

I hope I am wrong, I grew up going to this game every year and it has ALWAYS had a special feel to it - I hope this one will too.

Best thing would be to get out early and do something good to get everyone in the game. I have a sneaking they will and the game could be close. Sometimes after things bottom out everyone relaxes and starts to play looser - that's what we need.

I am not concerned because to me the "buzz" should not start until Saturday around 3:30p when our game ends against Wisconsin. At that point it will be MICHIGAN/OSU week!

How can there be alot of buzz when one team is on a serious losing streak and is in serious danger of missing a bowl for the 2nd year in a row? It may be OSU-Michigan game, but I wouldn't be surprised if alot of fans have become apathetic due to the mounting losses. I think alot of us on these boards are patient with the team, but most casual fans aren't. Winning cures everything.

What are you talking about? It looks sold out to me. (see mgoblue.com)

Do you mean on the secondary market? If so, aren't there "thousands of tickets available" to the Super Bowl every year?

This game has much more buzz than last year. OSU is more vulnerable. Michigan is better. A bowl game for Michigan will be on the line (unlike last year). Plus, this could save RR. Plus, OSU is "dressing up" for the big day.

500 Rose Bowl tickets available on StubHub too.

Why is there such little buzz over a BCS game?

In case you didn't know, many fans planning on attending a game place their tickets on Stubhub for a "trigger price" and if someone is willing to pay that much, then the owner of the ticks will watch at home.

You can have my OSU tickets for $500 each. (About what they are listed for on StubHub in my section.) But, that doesn't mean the game won't be a sellout and I am not excited about it.

Ohio State being ranked in the top 10 having already wrapped up the Big Ten title this weekend versus battle-damaged Iowa with a 9-2 record going in, and Michigan 5-6, unranked, after another soul-crushing road loss to Wisconsin?

Um Yeah. I can imagine the media "buzz" birds flying away from this one at the speed of light.

This is the part where Herbstreit and Spielman reiterate how Michigan continues to not deliver on its end of the bargain for the Greatest Rivalry in sports.

I don't think typical Michigan November weather keeps any fans away from this game.

of buzz once that stadium fills up and the game kicks off. I am hype right now and thats even with tall the bad stuff thats went on these last 3 games. I really do hope we shock everyone & pull one out. we need it. Everybody. I am getting tired. Really tired. I need something to help recharge the juice in my batteries. Nothing could do that more than OSU getting beat to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the 69 team.
