Devin Bush AP All America 2nd team
Chase and Lavert Hill 3rd team.

Ummmm... David Long, 2nd Team All-American Linebacker?
edit: oh, he's an actual guy from WVU.
December 10th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
Yeah, and he’s actually really good. Man amongst boys on that WV defense
December 10th, 2018 at 12:37 PM ^
Kinda surprised he isnt first team! But still great season. Going to miss watching him fly all over the field
December 10th, 2018 at 12:37 PM ^
Now I need to find some stats showing these first-teamers being worse than Bush:
December 10th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
Josh Allen is really really good, I have no disagreement with him as first team even ahead of Bush. Devin White and Burr-Kirven are both excellent players but I think Bush is better, homerism aside.
December 10th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
Different player than Burr-Kirven, who's damned good. But I'd take Bush all day. I think White won the Butkus Award.
December 10th, 2018 at 12:59 PM ^
All that aside, "finding stats" is an awful way to actually determine who is better in football.
As part of a complete, well-rounded argument they can certainly help make the case.
December 10th, 2018 at 1:23 PM ^
Yeah, Josh Allen was a beast this season, 84 tackles, 18.5 TFLs, 14.0 sacks, 4 passes defended, 5 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.
Devin White too 116 tackles, 12 TFLs, 3 sacks, and 2 FFs, with 5 passes defended.
The 3rd guy, Ben Burr-Kirven had an incredible 165 tackles this season. And he was a turnover creating machine with 2 INTs, 4 forced fumbles, and 3 fumbles recovered. Also 6 passes defended.
Bush was great this season, but just didn't put up those type of numbers. 66 tackles 8.5 TFLs, 4.5 sacks 4 PDs and no turnovers forced.
December 10th, 2018 at 1:38 PM ^
Allen and White deserve it. Bush deserves it over Burr Kirven
December 10th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
Lavert Hill on the third team - awesome accomplishment. Our David Long remains the most underrated player I can remember.
December 10th, 2018 at 12:55 PM ^
Yeah. Michigan's program had Long ahead of Hill. But I guess it's nice to have two of those Dudes.
December 10th, 2018 at 2:01 PM ^
It's hard to stack award when nobody will even throw at you.
December 10th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
He clearly needs to come back then.
December 10th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
"Only second-team, eh? No thanks. NEXT!"
~ NFL evaluators, hopefully
December 10th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
Congrats to Devin!
And I dont care if he plays or doesnt play in the Peach Bowl (yes I know he said he'd play but if I was his dad I would tell him to sit it out) he was one of the most fun LBs I've had the pleasure of watching over the past 50 years.
Best of luck in the NFL son. You did Michigan proud!
December 10th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
STOP
He is returning (possibly in my dreams only).
December 10th, 2018 at 2:52 PM ^
I’m going to assume you aren’t traveling to watch them play and that’s why you don’t care if he dresses
December 10th, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
Correct assumption but even if I was going it wouldn't change my thinking. The final four has rendered all other bowl games completely and utterly meaningless and if Bush wants to play in the exhibition game great - have fun and dont get hurt.
But if he doesnt want to be JakeButt'd or even have the potential to be JakeButt'd I certainly cant blame him. And my purchase of a ticket shouldnt have one darn thing to do with his decision.
December 10th, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
He could have been Jake Butt’d In any game this year, so where do we draw the line? Should everyone just sit out against Rutger and Nebraska if they are healthy because they are saving themself for the draft?
If he wants a zero percent chance of getting hurt, he probably shouldn’t be playing football. And if your definition of “exhibition” is that it has no bearing on winning a conference championship or getting into the playoffs, I’m sure you would have been fine with Hurst and Cole and Hammer Panda sitting out the OSU game two years ago, seeing that we weren’t making the playoffs and we couldn’t win the B10. It was an exhibition game the same way this bowl game is
December 11th, 2018 at 4:10 AM ^
Nah bud THE GAME is the Superbowl. Never an exhibition. Nice try but not convincing anyone w that argument
December 10th, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
I'm a little surprised he's not a first team guy. I guess there are a lot of really good football players spread around.
December 10th, 2018 at 12:44 PM ^
LOL wow
December 10th, 2018 at 12:50 PM ^
Seems about right. Surprised Long didn't get some love for the 3rd team, but makes sense. White and Bush could have switched places and I doubt anyone would have batted an eye, but all are some of the top LBs in the country.
December 10th, 2018 at 12:54 PM ^
Not much above the Mason-Dixon line in these lists ... only 3 first-teamers from the B1G.
11 SEC, 5 ACC
December 10th, 2018 at 4:05 PM ^
Show you the gap between B1G and the southern schools. B1G is not a good conference. If you look at NFL draftees, it's even more stark because B1G is underrepresented and that's not a coincidence
December 10th, 2018 at 5:14 PM ^
Or the selection committee is predominately from SEC/ACC territory or an ESPN slappy. Literally, 9 of the 16 on the committee.
December 10th, 2018 at 10:09 PM ^
Take a look at recent NFL drafts and B1G is severely missing especially at QB position where it's the most important position. Haskins will be the first B1G QB to get drafted at 1st round since Kerry Collins which is more than 30 years ago. There is a reason why B1G is lagging behind the rest of the country.
December 10th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
When did they start adding all-purpose players? Interesting addition.
December 10th, 2018 at 3:10 PM ^
That's criminal. There are not 3 LBers better than Devin.
December 10th, 2018 at 4:30 PM ^
Hey,been watching M a long time , never saw a faster linebacker than he is, he outruns most running backs , side to side , he's a first teamer
December 10th, 2018 at 6:11 PM ^
SEC guys put Devin on the second team, more bias
Guarantee he is better in the pros than either of these guys
