I think it came down to a couple of kings but I think the biggest factor is the incredible damage that has been done to Michigan footballs reputation in the region. Outside of Big Ten country the block M still pulls a lot of respect for football, but all I see from the more local media is a Spartan heavy Detroit media that rather gleefully talks about how Michigan football is dead and highlights every negative and a culture throughout the rest of the Big Ten that hates Michigan with a passion and is happy to try to bury it while it's down. You get all that and recruiting local-ish kids is going to have some built in negatives that recruiting a kid from say, New Jersey, might not. A couple of good years and things will get back to normal, but for now we should expect that recruiting in state and in-region kids is going to be much harder than we might expect.

this is a bad beat.  But, have to believe staff was aware this could happen.  Hope they can pull a four-star OL out of the magic bag at the end here.

Good luck at Standofrd, kid.  Hurts less to lose someone to that program.

Some of you people need to calm the f*ck down. Seriously. We have a week. JH and co are prepared and have some things up their sleeves, that I can guarantee. CALM DOWN! (Loud noises!)

Looking for silver lining... If he waited until NSD, we would have had no time to try to pull off a miracle. Now atleast we have 4 days to try... Best I can do for silver lining, this sucks

My silver lining is..Jim knew there was a great chance Hamilton got accepted to Stanford because he knows Stanford, Hamilton and Poggi very well..So Jim had a plan in place for months and since its a few days from NSD he tried to keep it quiet because Jim understands media hype and the fun of NSD...So like always, Jim will make UM one of the biggest talks of NSD with a couple pleasant surprises.

So was this a negotiated swap. Poggi tells Harbaugh that Devery is leaning to Stanford, but I can get you Spennelis as an immediate back-up plan while you take a shot at EJ Price et al.  Im starting to think all this 'crutin is not as spontanious as we may think it is.

Let's put it this way. If a coach who is the father of a current player on the team and a guy who just committed didn't tell Harbaugh that this was a strong possibility I'd be very shocked.

Dead period starts Monday. I'm concerned about our OL class. Our line play has been awful for some time now and most of them graduate this year. With 30 schollies being handed out, I would of liked to of seen at a minimum 5 taking.
