Detroit Southeastern basketball standouts looking else where
It appears that Percy Gibson and LaDontea Henton are re-openning their recruiting search. After Dayton's head coach, Brian Gregory, stepped down the two stars are looking elsewhere.
Gibson averaged 21 points and 11.5 rebounds. Henton, a 6-foot-5 forward, averaged 24.8 points and 14.5 rebounds.
Any chances with the two or are we set?

with Gibson.
It pays to save a scholarship...
Eh, I disagree. I think saving a scholly will do more harm than good on average. Who knows if these guys are even compatible with our system anyways.
That's how he was able to get the late-blooming, Max Bielfeldt.
That there weren't a lot of scholarship offers. You wouldn't take Gibson over him?

more clear, LaDonte Henton is from Lansing Eastern HS.
The Detroit News headline makes it sound like both are from Detroit Southeastern.
I think Beilein has a decent grasp on this whole college basketball thing. I'll roll with the guys he believes are worthy.
Isn't recruiting Michigan-caliber athletes.
Better than MAC-, but less than Big Ten-caliber.

Gibson had offers/interest from a number of major-conference schools. From a Dayton Daily News article:
[Gibson] has scholarship offers from UD [Dayton], Michigan State and Minnesota and is being recruited by Southern Cal, Providence and Wake Forest.

sorry but i take anything said by them with a grain of salt in light of recent douchiness by them.

The article on Gibson wasn't written by the same person.
In any case, there's numerous sources saying that Gibson had an MSU offer at one time.

If MSU takes Gibson, they would have to cut somebody to have room for Gary Harris. Maybe Nix is strongly encouraged to hit the bricks.

I wish we had space for Gibson. I actually wish we'd gone after him harder to begin with. Seems like the kind of banger that we could have used. So it goes.
