Detroit Lions path to Superbowl Glory!!!

Submitted by I'm Batman on December 11th, 2018 at 11:33 AM

All we need to make the playoffs this year is...

 1. Lions win out

 2. Vikings lost to Lions Bears/Dolphins

 3. Eagles lose to Rams

 4. Redskins lose 2 games

 5. Panthers lose 1 game

 6. Packers lose to Lions

 7. Buccaneers lose 1 game

Honestly i started posting this as a joke. But the only thing in doubt on this list as a possibility is the Lions win out. But if they beat the Vikings, that becomes a realistic possibility. With only the Packers and Bills to play besides Minnesota.

Feel free to refile this post in the What are you smoking thread.

All that needs to happen is that the Ford family needs to sell them.

After 60 years, its all about the ownership.

One of three teams who have never even reached the super bowl. One of two teams that were around in the 50s.

The only franchise that has been in existence for the entire Super Bowl era that hasn't gone.

The Browns haven't been, but their franchise left and won two Super Bowls elsewhere; there was a break prior to the expansion.

There have been 52 Super Bowls, and the Lions are the only franchise that has played in the league in every one of those seasons and failed to appear.

You'll pardon me, I'm going to poke around under the sink for some Clorox.

I doubt that will happen any time soon - selling the franchise that is.

Why? Because it the one really valuable asset the Ford family still controls.

With each generation, each set of fund raising from various banks and credit lines, each set of cousins, nieces, and nephews, there is increasing pressure from outsiders to curtail the voting rights of the Ford (family) preferred stock and so the amount of wealth that the family can pass that comes from the auto company and its spin offs continues to diminish and becomes more dilute.

What was once a fun hobby (like owning a fancy yacht, a race horse, or one's own golf course) for the late William Clay Ford, akin to someone sponsoring their own bowling team, is now a billion dollar enterprise to turns a tidy profit each year. No, they won't be selling it any time soon - especially with the NFL rules banning corporate ownership outside of the Packers. Every team has a distinct "owner" otherwise we'd long ago have had the ATT Cowboys or Delta Airline Falcons.

Look instead for someone in the family who might have in the past looked to go into the auto business to try to learn about sports management and look to take on the task.

As Harbaugh says... We reap what we sow....  With our history as a tough industrial blue collar town, and yet are soft and the ownership chose to play indoors on turf, to sell more tickets and make fans comfortable...well it makes the players too comfortable too  we lose all advantage here being in a blue collar city and playing indoors. Now when we play on road in cold we tend to lose. Most domed teams do, and are jekyll and hydes . There has been few exceptions: the warner Rams and maybe the Saints . That's twice in how many years....  look now at Atlanta fading.    Give me an outdoor team amd Im happy.

Im not saying in any way that this will happen. Knowing the lions all of these things will happen and they will go into Lambeu with a chance to go to the playoffs and they will choke becaus SOL. How crazy would it be though if they actually do it and win the superbowl.
