Derrick Walton Jr. Named to Preseason All-B1G Team
Didn't see this posted yesterday. The Preseason All-B1G team was announced yesterday, and Derrick Walton Jr. was named to the 10-person team.
Interesting list. Three players from Wiscy, two from Indiana, NONE from MSU.

I received an email from the athletic department yesterday advertising tickets for the basketball team's games. The email included photos of Walton and Irvin. My first reaction was relief mixed with confidence that we have those two leaders coming back for this season. I'm looking forward to the basketball season. Of course, I hope the football season lasts as long as possible.

you mean by going undefeated, 15-0 and winning it all....yes I agree and it sure is a possibility!!!

I think he means after going 15-0 and we awarded the 6th seed in the NFC playoffs and go on to win the Super Bowl too. The rare double.

Incoming thread on rival site stating that delusional fans think Michigan could win the Super Bowl. *facepalm

I am hoping Irvin is ready to make the next step this year. He has been inconsistant as the main wing player. Played really well when he was a with Lavert and such.

but congrats to Walton, I hope both those guys have epic senior seasons!

You know MSU is going to be a freshman-dominated team, right? But go ahead thinking B1G preseason lists are a great indicator of success.

Irvin was too hurt last year and didn't play well enough to make the All-B1G Pre-Season team. Hopefully he is able to play at 100% for the whole season and can finally take the next step we have all been waiting for.
Walton is a very good player, though I think he is about as good as he is going to get. If he somehow is able to improve from last year, that would be an amazing thing for him and this tteam. I don't see him making the transition to the NBA, but I could be wrong. Burke was much more talented than him and isn't getting much run. I'm sure Walton could be very successful over seas and enjoy playing the game he loves. He and Irvin make this team go, their success will determine the team's success.

But I do think Walton can be big for us this year. Last year he showed great flashes. But then showed some lows as well. What we need from him is consistency. I love his tenacity and fight and when he's on, he's fun to watch. I just hope we see that more of the time!
GO BLUE!!

I think Irvin will have a really good senior year. I still believe he was hindered somewhat by his back injury for a long stretch of last year, and then they are trying to figure out Caris's situation, which didn't help dynamics. Walton should be a solid PG, and they have some depth behind him if necessary.

He's a great rebounder and hustler, quick hands on defense, and a streaky shooter that's good in the clutch, but he's not really a point guard. He doesn't have the instincts, vision, the handle or the passing ability of a real point guard. He doesn't create or anticipate, nor even react all too often, and is usually late and throwing sinking line drives too low and often behind, not leading anyone or putting it where it's needed. Little drive and dishing.
Hopefully Simpson will be too great to keep out of the starting PG spot and Walton can just be the microwave off the bench. I'd rather have the Rahk at point than Derrick any day.
