Dennis Fithian just said on 97.1 that the rumors are pretty strong that Threet could transfer within the next day or two. Take it for what its worth...

It would be so awesome if this were literally just an MLive rumor and everyone repeated it enough that even insiders were saying they'd heard it to the people who report it.

let's not panic just yet. it would be a long process for threet to transfer a second time, not to mention his hometown is extremely proud of him playing for Michigan. I hope he stays cause the team needs him.

but I'll believe all this transfer stuff only if Threet does it; until then I think Brodie's nailed it. The statement "rumors are pretty strong" contains no real information, and gives the speaker enough cover to hide a battleship if it does turn out to be nothing more than rumor. My understanding is that Threet's a pretty smart guy academically, and I find it hard to believe he'd transfer to Southwestern North Louisiana State or some such just for playing time, considering the market value of the diploma he'd be getting compared to UM. It'd be funny if he ended up at Stanford like Jason Forcier, though.

he cant hack it as a wolverine qb, hes not even going to have a chance to carry a clipboard in the NFL/CFL or better yet the AFL (rest in peace)

I think you should cut him some slack. To say that he cannot hack it as Wolverine QB is misguided and short-sighted. When he wasn't hurt, he looked like a serviceable QB as a RS Freshman despite playing in a system that isn't geared to his talents. Brian Griese didn't look like much early in his career. Tom Brady didn't play until he was a RS Junior, and got much better over the course of two years. There's no reason to believe that Threet couldn't get substantially better too. I think the team is better off with him and hope he stays.

with Caveman. The QB position will be thinner next year if Threet leaves. It's unfortunate that he feels that so much of the blame falls on him for last season.

He could play at Adrian right away; their starter graduated this year. I am not going to push the panic button if he leaves. He will never be a major college-level quarterback. He would have been nice depth, but if he starts more than two games this season, UM will be in trouble. I think the MIAA, where the players are a little smaller and a lot slower, would be a great place for him. He would have the time he needs to make decisions when he has the ball, and his almost sidearm delivery wouldn't be so easy to block.

People need to stop burying Threet like he has absolutely no talent. When healthy and with some experience, he looked like a serviceable QB in the Big 10. Do people honestly think he couldn't start at MSU, Iowa, or Purdue with some experience? We cut guys like Stonum and McGuffie immense amount of slack because they are "young" guys at skill positions, yet a RS freshman is asked to start from the first game, behind a horrible Oline with a pretty young/mediocre supporting cast, and we are ready to right him off because he struggled. I'm not saying that Threet is the next coming of Greise or Brady, but if he was good enough to go to Georgia Tech AND then start at UM, he is a D1 QB. Give him more than 1 year in an offense and I fully expect him to be a serviceable Big 10 QB, the type of guy who can lead a team to a decent bowl game and back from 3-9.

Exactly. Co-sign, etc.
