Denard Robinson: Senior Bowl

Submitted by Michigan4Life on

Senor Bowl just finished the prospect measurements.  Denard Robinson came in at 5104/196.  Way shorter than his listed height which isn't surprising considering that he's not really a true 6'.  His future is definitely at RB/WR, but more at RB because of his ability to run the ball and find holes/cutback lanes.

EDIT: When height shows up in a 4 digit numbers, it means feet, inches then an 8th of inch so Denard is 5'10" 4/8.  That is a common abbreviation for NFL scouts.  They speak prospect's height by 4 digit numbers.

If you take 5104 and divide it by Pi you get 1624.65365908

Maybe this also means that since Denard wore 16 in college, he will wear 24 in the NFL?

Or is he 1624 cubic cm tall?

I was looking back through all of his accomplishments during his 4 years here. People like Denard don't come around often, and I'm proud as hell of everything he's done for the university.

Deadspin has just broken the story that, in spite of being stated to be 6 feet tall in media guides and news reports for his entire senior season, Denard Robinson is in fact only 5' 10.5".  In a hastily-called press conference, Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon defended the star quarterback, claiming that the erroneous measurement was due to a faulty tape measure, and that Robinson had no knowledge that he was actually not 6 feet tall.  Brandon claims that an internal investigation was conducted, and the tape measure in question was thrown away.

Questions remain, however.  Why did Michigan wait until after the end of the season to disclose the tape measure issue?  Why was Robinson still listed at 6' in the Outback Bowl media guide, two weeks after the investigation was said to have concluded?  Why was the tape measure quietly disposed of rather than being turned over to the National Institute of Standards and Technology for examination?
