Denard Robinson on Rich Rodriguez

"One more year."

.....and I agree

In my opinion, there's more than enough evidence to go bring Rich Rodriguez for one more season.

The only problem with this team is the issues Michigan's had on the recruiting trail, particularly defensively. Yes, the lack of support for RR and negative perception of the program is killing Michigan right now. Unfortunately for RR, the only way he can change that perception is by competing for a BCS bowl during his 4th season with 20 returning starters and a favorable schedule.

Bo was reported to be a big fan of Rich Rodriguez.

Don't forget,

"Those who stay....."

I have a soft spot for RR. I personally believe he can get the job done with the right support. It's just sad because it looks like he's going to have the rug pulled out from under him before he shows us what he can do.

Just need to do something with the def. 1 more year and I believe he will show that he can make it work here. If he is not back next year we will be another 2 to 3 yrs  rebuilding again. No matter what happens I will be a true blue fan and support our players. Go Blue

one of these institutions that removes coaches every three years.

His first full recruiting class will be Juniors next year!  While some (rarely, IMO) newly hired coaches have quick turnaround success, majority see the fruits of their labors in year 4 or 5 if you look at other coaches records, ... including 'you know who'

I feel RR deserves and has earned the opportunity to see his recruits reach at least upper classmen status.

Hopefully they have a great showing today, Go Blue!

I absolutley support another year of RR but if it doesn't happen because the defense and special teams are an embarrassment, then I'm sorry but that's the price he'll have to pay.  I understand it takes time to get "your players" to play your style of offense, but you simply cannot field the worst defense in Michigan history AND have a pathetic special teams.  Hell, if he could have just avoided the special teams debacle I don't think we're having a discussion about job security.

Those who stay WILL be champions.  But Bo also understood the importance of defense and significance of special teams.  EVERY SINGLE PRACTICE under Bo began with time spent on a segment of special teams.

Here's hoping for a resounding victory today over Miss St. and another year of RR/Denard.

there is any proof that RR doesn't understand special teams is there? He recruited one of the best kickers in the nation in Gibbons who we were all salivating over during his all star game and highlights. So far he has busted. He recruited an very good punter and got another kicker this year.

Punt and kick returns I will agree with though. No reason not to have Stonum back there on KO returns if he is healthy. Punt returns I think was hurt a little with injuries. I also think the coverage teams will get better once we accumulate depth on the roster.

The D is no excuse but I'm willing to give it another year, not really with GERG though.

No proof?

Our FG kicking blows.  What you've pointed out is that we recruited a highly touted and successful kicker and turned him into suck.

We've fumbled/mishandled more kick-off/punts over the last 3 years than any team I have seen/watched on tv.

Sorry, but there's plenty of proof, in my opinion.

I know because highly touted players always pan out except on RR coached teams right?  There's many other arguments against keeping RR, but this specific one isn't one of the good ones.

Denard Robinson is everything we want in a Michigan Man.  Not only is he an amazing performer on the football field, he carries himself with undeniable class and effortless grace.  Regardless of the coaching situation, if this young man leaves our university, the loss will extend beyond the football field.

The issues he's had on the recruiting trail -- on the defensive side -- aren't simply a matter of perception. When you have a terrible defense -- and terrible coordinators and schemes -- it's hard to recruit defensive players.

If this were simply a matter of perception, recruiting would be impacted across the board. Richrod hasn't had a problem attracting fine offensive players. The perception, in this case, is reality. Richrod doesn't do defense.

I have a soft spot for RR too, but I never like reading that we are going to axe him "before he shows what he can do."

He could have made things easier on himself. The handling of the defensive staff has been horrendous, he didn't hit recruiting home runs on defense with the 2009 class when he really needed a few, the team never got better as the year went on (like ND did this season), and we couldn't even compete with the Big Ten's best, let alone beat them, in Year 3.

If this is the end, he will be remembered as a snakebitten coach, but he's not a total victim either.
