Awesome video. I liked the music, but I can understand how a parent could object. Perhaps you should have used the radio friendly version of Rhianna.

..the music fits a young man as classy as Mr. Robinson. He seems to be a man of substantial faith (from his interviews and his kneeling after TD's) so out of respect for that I would of toned down the language. I am WAY OLD at 34, so anything after the "Glen Miller Orchestra" is blasphemous.

All that being said as someone who edits video I say great job coming out of the gate. The next video better be all Zoltan Mesko. Love me some Zoltan.

Considering there are pics of him with the rapper Lupe Fiasco you seem to be claiming a certain moral high ground for Denard that: 1. Is ridiculous (because good kids can't listen to rap music) 2. Doesn't exist

the video was awesome, however I don't feel the music fit. It just didn't always seem to keep pace with what was going on but i give you props for it. Just keep making them!

I don't log in very often, but did to say "great job".  As others have said, the music isn't appropriate for the little ones, but man the video sure is.  If that was a HS recruit video...  I am glad 16 plays for the good guys.  GO BLUE!

Nice video.  The song's not horrible, and I presume he chose it for the "Under the Lights" given the coming night game -- which is kinda neat.  But the language is pretty bad and there's no way anybody with kids is going to listen to that with them in the same room.  If he's that good an editor, why not steal and blend music from a few sources?  Could still keep the "under the lights" lyrics along with whatever else fits.

but i thought the music was sick. I understand parents may not want their children watching it, but that is ok. Just like R-rated movies, not everything is for everybody. This is clearly designed for my generation (late high-school, college, young professionals etc.). I personally hate edited music because it is destroying the artist's intended message and hence, I was thankful for it.

Also, your video editing skills are mad legit.

All in all, you got me to watch a 15 minute youtube video and i want to watch it again. That is impressive.

Golden work.  And props to the proud bro.

As for the soundtrack, I turned it down so I'd get the hype feel from the music without being distracted by...  Can someone translate that first song for an old fogey?  "You're my wah-wah" or "I'm wah-wah" or whatever it was?

As many others said, the music was a bit much but awesome video!  Loved the "pose" and replayed the TD against ND about 15 times.  This video literally sent me straight to the tv to see if the Big Ten Channel had a classic M game on (no luck!).  I'm completely wired for the season now.  I live in Chicago and have tickets to the night game at NW - when in hell is Oct 8th gonna' get here!

PS - as one poster said, I would've loved to have seen some epic Beckmann in there.  Would have made an awesome video even better!

The amount of people complaining about the music is funny. Personally, I like my Denard highlights set to a little Fleetwood Mac or maybe some Maroon 5 but you've gotta let the kids be kids.

I feel like I need to come down from this by watching the D highlight tape.

Because right now I'm thinking "10-2 next year isn't out of the question".

1. too long.  But still some great highlights.  I'm sure it would be hard to distill it down.

2. music that drops the "N" word several times is very uncool.  I would think that a Michigan hype video would be above that.

First, thanks to your brother for making this.  He put a lot of work into it, and it's a huge joy to watch.  Note that I said "watch" and not "listen to...", but here's what I liked:

1.  Picked the right clips.  The hard part of a vid is knowing where to draw the line on what makes a memorable highlight play, and he drew the line just right.

2.  The little off-the-field extra clips were a great touch.

3.  Heisman effect in the ND game was brilliant, even wish he'd held it for an extra few seconds.  That was a sweet, sweet effect.

4.  Great editing, knew just where to make the cuts to keep it moving without making it too choppy.  I thought the length was fine.

Criticism:

File this under "get off my lawn" maybe, but I had to turn the volume way down about 5 minutes in and just watch.  I hated the music.  I shouldn't even say music, just the lyrics (the music was actually good, great rythym.  But the lyrics... it was constant F-bombs, N-word, Gangsta culture, money and hoes, basically everything that Denard is NOT about unless he's pulling one of the great con jobs of all time.  Of all these, it's the constant N-word in songs I just couldn't stand.  I'm 40 now and I hate that word as much as when I learned in elementary school about what it meant, where it came from, and the place it had in American history.  It makes my skin crawl.  And I hated hearing it paired up with a kid like Denard.    /rant

I really wish your brother, who is obviously pretty talented at making vids, would consider picking some music that fits Denard a little better.  Also, this is just a style suggestion, but it's always a great effect to turn off the music periodically and run the live audio call from the game on a particular play, like maybe the 87-yd run against ND or something.  Then go back to the music.

EDIT:  ok, posted that before reading through the other comments... looks like I managed to add not a single new thing to this thread.  So let me just say that I learned on NPR this morning that there is a popsicle on the market that is designed to look like David Hasselhoff (from the waist up).  It's called the Hoffsicle.  I've now added something new to the thread.

The music is not good.  Put some broadcast announcer or dejected ND announcer over some      other kind of music.  This pop rap with r&b singer music gets tiring for 5 minutes let alone 15.

Watching this just makes me sad because if we would have had an avg defense we would have won a few more games and kept this dynamic offense.

jmblue

July 2nd, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^

It would have helped if that dynamic offense would have actually performed in the redzone . . . or shown up in the first half more often.  It's tough to beat good teams when your offense scores 14 or fewer points in the first three quarters (which was the case against MSU, Iowa, PSU, Wisconsin, OSU and Miss State).

There's just one problem: it needs to be a Michigan hype video.  No man is bigger than the team.

The team, the team, the team.

Borges PLEASE have some shotgun packages for this man. I know Smith took a lot of flack on this board, but I think there were some times where he would sell the hell out of the run, then all of a sudden, Denard is taking off for a big gain, or for 6.

I thought the video was awesome, and I liked the music.

OMG A SWEAR WORD!!  I'll bet you're all saints who've never uttered even a remotely crass word in your lives, certainly not at a Michigan game, and certainly not in the precense of young kids.  Jeesh.

good video, highlights were good.  You know, overall I think the music choices could've been better (and I listen to rap music, so GOML), the opening song was alright, after that, the songs were trash.  Maybe --Manio ft T-pain - All the Above.

Also, as much as I liked this highlight video, it'll have more feel to it when the majority of the highlights aren't vs UCONN and UMASS.  Overall, totally unjustifiable rating : 6.5/10

Good job with this awesome video……………..I especially enjoyed the personalized beginning.  I am way pumped up for more Denard  and a fantastic Michigan season.  However you asked so I’m tellin…………..the music was inappropriate and not indicative of the high standards and direction of Michigan football.  The “thug” mentality is more associated with that “school down south” in “Ohio”.  Good first effort………but try and be a little more classy in the future……………..

thanks everyone for the comments, this was a video i started at about midnight and worked on it until the next morning haa but with that being said i just used what was on my computer.

im gonna change it up a little and add some cleaner music and a few of the calls and re upload it so other people can enjoy it also

great response to the comments.  You basically had two choices:

1.  get super defensive about the critiques of the music selections

or

2.  change it up a little so an even bigger group of folks can really enjoy it with no reservations.

Glad you picked no. 2.  You've got an impressive creative talent there, keep up the good work.

Believe in your vision, kid.  Be an individual.  Don't listen to all the 40+ year old posters on this blog ripping your music selection.  If they are obsessed enough to visit this site, then they should understand that is the type of music a lot of players on the team listen to.

... but I agree with many others about the content of the music. Please find some other more positive music other than the constant N-Word every 5 seconds. This is not the way to represent such an honorable person like Denard.

Nicely done, though add me to the list of people who did not like the music.  That horse is beaten to death above.  Maybe more of a mix of music would help?

I appreciate the distribtion between run and pass.  It must have been very tempting to focus on the jaw-dropping runs he had.  Adding the passes showed that he has an arm too.  Hopefully, he will make even more progress as a passer.  (Can he get any better as a runner?)

If we only had an average defense last year!  Damn you GERG!!!!!!
