Well, I don't think we need another QB in this class, but this dude is mega fast, and would be awesome if he could play in the secondary, especially CB.

seems to be key for this kid. We need some fresh blood quickly in the secondary, so it seems like it could potentially be a good fit. Have you had any contact with this kid, Tom?

Disagree on not needing more QB's. What if Beaver or Forcier are nowhere near ready in '09? We found out first hand this year, what not having a capable quarterback running this offense is like.
If the kid looks like a stud, I say bring him in.

He's more of an ATH/QB. If he comes he'll probably get a chance to compete for QB, but my bet is he moves to D.

is generally considered overkill in a recruiting class, which almost always leads to one of them bailing down the road. 2 is more than enough, but in our uniquely sucktacular situation, bringing in another couldn't hurt.

Plus, 2 of the 3 QBs would be viable at other positions as well, so if they don't pan out as QBs they can switch.

One of the big reasons Beaver is coming to M is because we want him to play QB. His first choice was Texas, and he got an offer, but to play WR, and he didn't want to do that. It would be a dick move to convince him to come here to play QB then move him once he got here.

I'm not saying more him to WR right when he gets here, which certainly would be a dick move. What I mean is if all three compete for the starting spot, there should be a clear winner or two best, and the third would probably want to move to a different position to get playing time. Clearly none of them are coming here with the guarantee that they will be the starting QB in the coming years. I'm thinking similar to Ferrara or Butler this year, passed on the depth chart so they want to contribute in any way they can.

It's a situation, though, where if he were to come, you let him compete to be a QB. If, after some time, he feels like that's not going to happen, he transfers to DB, which he doesn't sound at all against doing.
If Florida is his top choice, perhaps letting him the opportunity to compete at QB could break it for us - they have a 5-star and two 4-stars who are either true freshmen, RS freshmen, or sophomores withering away behind Tebow.

Period, point blank. This Robinson kid is ripe for playing at another position if he committed here - seeing as how scout has him as an elite, 13th rated cornerback.

"I think Michigan just needs some playmakers and I could be that guy for them," he said.
Also talks a lot about Rodriquez, another good sign

has done a masterful job of ensuring that these kids understand this is a bump in the road for Michigan, and by committing here they will be a part of the resurgence. I felt no sense of regret in Ricardo Miller's voice when I spoke to him - he doesn't give a fuck about the short-term struggle. Only inane fans adhere to the belief that good, short term performance on the field is the only way to reel in longterm recruits.

My impression is that Florida is the leader, FWIW.
