Denard - "No Response" as to whether he comes back next year if RR does not.

Submitted by Knappster on

Not trying to start a panic.  Just saw it tweeted by Bruce Feldman.

Edit:  I think this is an appropriate response at this time.  Why commit either way.  See what happens first.  I think he will stay either way.

is a humble, quiet young man who is way, way to smart to caught in a reporter's trap.  I would read absolutely nothing into his repsonse.

I also think that he will graduate from Michigan, even if Elmer Fudd were to coach the team next year.

I hope he stays. Great talent. Great kid. But if he choses to leave, well, Devin Gardner is an excellent replacement. Unless, of course, he leaves too. Then we're fucked.

I'm beginning to think some people here are Robinson fans, not Michigan fans....I like what DRob has done, but if he chooses to transfer if RR is fired, well, the pros still outweigh the cons.

I don't really care who the coach is; they'd be downright foolish not to use the best quarterback we have as a quarterback. Right now, that's Denard by a longshot. But if Denard doesn't know that, he might just bug out.

I think it goes without saying that Denard will be lost to attrition.  However, he did work his ass off for this team and should be given the benefit of the doubt.  Whatever his decision, I wish him the best.

Too much into this statement. I will share this thought though. As I left the stadium today, the only thought in my head was:

"What if Denard leaves?" <looks at #16 jersey> "I really want to wear this jersey for two more years...." <sad face>

Then, I thought it about a dozen more times, and it made me wish I could just crawl under the covers and pretend that it will protect me from bad things like it used to when I was 5 years old.

I love how people demand that people be loyal to them, but toss those same people under the bus if they ever underperform on the field or on the sidelines.

Loyalty goes both ways.  If Michigan isn't willing to be loyal to the coach that recognized that Denard could be a special quarterback, and deploy his talents accordingly, then don't expect Denard to be loyal to Michigan.  If you're in favor of firing RR, then don't criticize Denard for doing what's best for him.

What else was the kid going to say?

I hope that if we have a new coach, we at least hire someone with the common sense to keep around this year's Big Ten Offensive POY and build his offense around him.  I'd wonder about anyone who didn't.

Is still a good passer.  I heard Craig James during the game say Denard had some accuracy issues last year and he has significantly improved (obviously).  Who's to say he can't improve in that area even more IF we do get a new coach?

I will make the comparison to M. Vick.  He quit relying on his athleticism and was able to turn his game completely around.  Denard already has the right attitude.  A new coach may be able to sell it as, you've got the spread down; now let's work on the Pro Style or Pistol etc...If you make Denard a passer first; imagine the open lanes!
