Denard moves up the depth chart

Submitted by JediLow on

I didn't see this posted anywhere on the board (and I've never been able to go back past the first page of topics): After checking my fantasy team I saw some news on Denard (I've picked  him as Mr Irrelevant for the 2nd year) - he beat out Jordan Todman and is now listed as the backup to Toby Gerhart (the Jags annouced it yesterday).

One notable position: running back, where Denard Robinson – a second-year veteran – is the backup behindToby Gerhart. Robinson had been competing with Jordan Todman and rookie Storm Johnson for the backup role in training camp.

He killed us being used as a QB, but is a great young man. He was so fun to watch many times. Living here in Northeastern Florida I am lucky to see him grow so fast. He was terrible last year, got coached well and looks extremely sharp. Nuss is coaching our offense well and we are lucky Brady got him.

What is so incomprehensible about his post?  He's saying Denard is a great young man but hurt us many times playing the quarterback position, which is true.  He's fortunate to be in the position to watch him improve given his location in Northeastern Florida, and although Robinsion was bad last year, he has been well-coached and is looking sharp this year.  On a side note, and since we're on the topic of Michigan offensive players, Nuss is coaching our offense well and we're lucky Hoke could convince him to join the staff.

Really?  You completely re-wrote his post.  And Denard never "killed us" being used as a QB.  He carried the offense during the dark dark Borges years, and was our best option both at QB and RB during that time.  Not his fault that Borges continually asked him to do things clearly outside of his skill set.

Denard single-highhandedly won us many a game. If not for him, I worry what our record would have been during the span of his career. Sure there were some games that got away from him, but you can't expect perfection 100% of the time.

Ryan Mallett transfering and RRod failing to land TPryor hurt us at QB way more than Threet, Sheridan and Bellomy.  If Mallett stays or Pryor comes we never hear about Threet/Sheridan and arguably one could say Bellomy ends up at Purdue.

I'm thrilled for Denard.  I saw the Lions - Jags game at Ford field the other week and Denard looked like the forgotten man.  He must have already locked the job down?

they were high on him prior to the off-season. I noticed others comment this but he looked better the Todman in prior preseason games, I thought he was safe. I didn't think he'd jump to #2 with his receiving skills though.

I was hoping someone made a post about this. I was glad to hear about it. Meanwhile....in Tebowland...Tim Tebow is the starting QB for the SEC Network. Its funny what a simple position switch can do for your career.

But then I can believe that no one has given him a shot to play QB! Say what you will about him, the dude led hi teams to wins. I can't believe that there is no NFL team who needs a QB or a back up wouldn't give him a sniff. Kinda sad and I'm not a Tebow guy I'm just saying

Would really like to see Denard rack up at least 400-500 yards and a few touchdowns this year. Hoping for him to become a decent NFL player.

If there is one former UM player I want to see succeed in the NFL it's Denard. He sacrificed so much of his college potential after RR was fired to stay at Michigan, all because he cared about his teammates too much to leave them.

It's hard to find people that are as selfless as Denard is.

I have that problem frequently as well.  If you click on the "Recent" tab instead of the "New" tab, you can page back to older posts.  It works there for some reason.  However, the posts show up in a different order than in the New tab.

You can also right click on the >> (page back) in the "New" tab, and choose Open link in new window.  It takes longer, but you will get everything in the right order.
