Dee backing off because of Hayes?

Submitted by ironman4579 on

Just a thought for discussion.  Could it be that Dee rethinking his choice has to do with Justice Hayes commiting?  There's not much space between the time Hayes made the decision and Hart deciding to leave.

Hart had also made comments in the past about dropping Auburn because they had another RB silent commit (which ended up not being true).  So, given those things (more the second than the first) could that have something to do with it?

Sam Webb reported that 5 days ago the coaches told Dee that Hayes would play DB or Slot and that MICH was only recruiting a complementary back in Rawls -- but nothing to compete at Dee's spot.  We made sure Dee knew he was the premiere back.  And Dee apparently was fine then.

somehow i doubt it.  many different backs and wide receivers have gotten playing time in the michigan offense this year even when they've all been healthy.  plus it's not like he wouldn't be competing for a job at alabama if that's where he goes.....

From my understanding, Justice Hayes will be used more as a slot receiver than an RB...Dee would be the true RB/APB for the class. I think the fact that Dave Brandon's comments left a lot of room for speculation, the coaching status announcement after the bowl season, and Dee being an early enrollee is possibly the reason why Dee is backing off because he possibly doesn't want to enroll here and then find out a month later that RR will be replaced

But, something tells me that it has a bit more to do with the fact that our own AD hasn't said whether the coaching staff that recruited Dee will be back next year.

If you had offers from just about any school in the country, would you commit to a school without knowing who the coach will be?

Dee is one of the top RBs in the country and being sought by the top teams in the country as an RB; if he is honetly spooked by Justice Hayes or anyone else competing for playing time, he wouldn't be nearly as good as he is.

I somewhat agree, but he did say at one point that he dropped Auburn because they had another RB commit.  Whatever the reason, at least at that point, he didn't like the idea of another RB in the same class.

Again, I realize Hayes isn't/wasn't going to be a RB, I just wasn't sure that had been communicated to Hart.

... Justice hayes isn't projected to be a college running back, he's going to be a slot receiver. That's why we were looking at signing a third running back in this class.

As I said above, I hadn't heard the Same Webb news.  I knew the assumption was that Hayes would play slot or CB.  I just didn't know that had been communicated to Dee.  Again, probably just ignore the thread.

Well a little while ago Dee said it didn't matter if there was a coaching change.. so unless he's going back on his words.

He said he could play in any system, so idk why it matters, but who knows maybe he didn't say it back then because he thought RR wouldn't be going anywhere.

Totally sucks. But I can't really blame the kid. If I were about to enter college in a month, and had my pick of programs, I'd probably be reluctant to go with a program whose coach was thisfar from the door.
