Dee backing off because of Hayes?
Just a thought for discussion. Could it be that Dee rethinking his choice has to do with Justice Hayes commiting? There's not much space between the time Hayes made the decision and Hart deciding to leave.
Hart had also made comments in the past about dropping Auburn because they had another RB silent commit (which ended up not being true). So, given those things (more the second than the first) could that have something to do with it?

I don't think so.

I mean, there won't be any competition for playing time at Alabama.

Sam Webb reported that 5 days ago the coaches told Dee that Hayes would play DB or Slot and that MICH was only recruiting a complementary back in Rawls -- but nothing to compete at Dee's spot. We made sure Dee knew he was the premiere back. And Dee apparently was fine then.

I hadn't heard the Webb news. Ignore the thread I suppose.

This has been discussed in every Dee Hart thread!!

I think Justin Hayes was recruited for slot receiver and should not factor into Dee's decision.

Maybe a distant relative?

the butler. Justice was served.

somehow i doubt it. many different backs and wide receivers have gotten playing time in the michigan offense this year even when they've all been healthy. plus it's not like he wouldn't be competing for a job at alabama if that's where he goes.....
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:39 PM ^
From my understanding, Justice Hayes will be used more as a slot receiver than an RB...Dee would be the true RB/APB for the class. I think the fact that Dave Brandon's comments left a lot of room for speculation, the coaching status announcement after the bowl season, and Dee being an early enrollee is possibly the reason why Dee is backing off because he possibly doesn't want to enroll here and then find out a month later that RR will be replaced

3-1
Continue!

But, something tells me that it has a bit more to do with the fact that our own AD hasn't said whether the coaching staff that recruited Dee will be back next year.
If you had offers from just about any school in the country, would you commit to a school without knowing who the coach will be?
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
Unless you have any type of facts, you are making things up there. Ahh, the internet.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:49 PM ^
He said his opinion. He didnt state it as fact.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:56 PM ^
Well, when you said at the time of your commitment that you were committing because it was Michigan, and that it didn't matter who the coach was, then.....yes.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
Dee is one of the top RBs in the country and being sought by the top teams in the country as an RB; if he is honetly spooked by Justice Hayes or anyone else competing for playing time, he wouldn't be nearly as good as he is.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:46 PM ^
I somewhat agree, but he did say at one point that he dropped Auburn because they had another RB commit. Whatever the reason, at least at that point, he didn't like the idea of another RB in the same class.
Again, I realize Hayes isn't/wasn't going to be a RB, I just wasn't sure that had been communicated to Hart.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:48 PM ^
agreed, dee hart would never be scared by justice.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
... Justice hayes isn't projected to be a college running back, he's going to be a slot receiver. That's why we were looking at signing a third running back in this class.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
As I said above, I hadn't heard the Same Webb news. I knew the assumption was that Hayes would play slot or CB. I just didn't know that had been communicated to Dee. Again, probably just ignore the thread.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:45 PM ^
I'm sure the competition w/ Hayes has nothing to do with it. If he was concerned with that then he wouldn't have committed at all. (see RB depth chart)
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:46 PM ^
I think it's more that he is an EE and he doesn't want to enroll to a school that doesn't even know who the coach is going to be.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
Well a little while ago Dee said it didn't matter if there was a coaching change.. so unless he's going back on his words.
He said he could play in any system, so idk why it matters, but who knows maybe he didn't say it back then because he thought RR wouldn't be going anywhere.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
I think he was just scared of Phil Monolo. You can hardly blame him. Phil is FEARSE.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:49 PM ^
So he's potentially going to Alabama?

No verbal bond is stronger than that of a guy who decommitted two weeks ago!
December 3rd, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
but his twitter account name is hayzenblue, that's official in the new age, my friend.
December 3rd, 2010 at 1:40 PM ^
Yeah, and if you look at his tweets right up until the point where he decommitted from the Irish, they looked just like that. My only point being that nothing matters before signing day.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:53 PM ^
if the kid doesn't want to come to Michigan - goodbye - goodluck - so long.
December 3rd, 2010 at 12:57 PM ^
I care and I don't care that you don't care that I care. Well, I guess I care about that a little.
December 3rd, 2010 at 1:01 PM ^
I agree 100%. Got negged for saying it last night though. If you don't want to come to Michigan, thats fine, good luck.

Justice spurns us, calling Michigan a "sinking ship." Just as the ship begins to right itself, he comes back, thus sinking it once again.

Is Dumb.
Carry on.
December 3rd, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
Totally sucks. But I can't really blame the kid. If I were about to enter college in a month, and had my pick of programs, I'd probably be reluctant to go with a program whose coach was thisfar from the door.
