That's fine with me. I would much rather have Weis get another 6 year contract from ND than have Brian Kelly or Urban Meyer end up there.

As I read it, all BCS bids are restricted to teams ranked #14 or higher. nd is currently 22. If they win out (Navy, Pitt, UConn, Stanford) they will probably end up #14 or higher.

If Floyd comes back by the Pitt game then ND could very well make a run to end the season 10-2 and have a good chance to win against a Big East or ACC team in the BCS. Still, I'd much rather they didn't get all that cash to themselves.

If UM beat ND... If Washington (-the refs) beat ND... If USC beat ND... can you explain to me why you'd possibly want to play UF, which has USC level talent and the QB that Locker and Forcier would Voltron together to form?

Because USC level talent could only hold back ND's offense for a half, and that was without Floyd. I really expect Floyd's, knock on wood, reappearance on the offense to cast some doubt in the pollsters (and bowl selectors) minds as to whether USC would have beaten ND with him on the field. Arkansas took UF to the brink, and with the exception of punt returns, ND and Arkansas are very similar on all sides of the ball.

I'd put Florida at >50% to be in the BCS title game. Other than that, that might be a decent scenario for you guys. Sometimes it's better to play an opponent that is, let's face it, superior, and hope to pull off the upset. Hell, I'd root for ND in that game, like I did against USC...

I'm relatively certain pollsters will focus on losing to Michigan at full strength, struggling with Purdue/MSU/BC/Washington and coming back with very questionable calls to still lose to USC as being more indicative of ND's ability than simply wondering if Floyd would have made the difference. Then again, Michigan talent shut down full health ND for a half, so there's always that. And wait, Purdue did it all game. This does not indicate ND can beat UF. Also, USC will beat ND by 40 next year. No oline, no Tate, no Clausen.

Not really, what a team does at the end of the year decides your destiny much more than earlier games. A loss in any of these last 4 games will hurt ND much more than either USC or UM will. I have a hard time saying Purdue shut down ND when Clausen played for a quarter + the final drive, and of course Floyd(#1WR) was out along with Allen(#1RB) among others. I tend to think ND's missing pieces played a pretty big role in how ND played the game and its outcome. Its not like we spend half of every game direct snapping to a RB. As for the UM game I would agree that the O was stopped by the UM D for a quarter(3rd) but not half the game. Your right your link does not indicate ND can beat UF, but it sure doesn't indicate they cant.

Nothing can indicate they can't, any given saturday and all. But if you wanted me to wager on a coaching and talent matchup that was Weis and ND vs Meyer and Florida, well, I think I'll take Florida. ND needs to beat a ranked team before I give them any credit.

Thats understandable, should have it taken care of about 11:30 next Saturday. :) In the mean time, both Navy and BC are likely to be ranked by the end of the year, both are looking at 9-3 seasons, BC will probably get a strong look at the end of this week.

a strong Pitt team and having to go to Stanford, nothing is a done deal. Remember, this is the part of the season where ND melted last year. I can't lie, I want ND to lose the rest of their games, but I'll settle for 8-4 and another overmatched loss in a non-BCS bowl game. That will keep Charlie around for at least one more year. Then...Jimmah and Tate join the dash for the cash and ND returns to what they have been for the last 10 years.

and Boise State gets shut out of the BCS spotlight, but runs the table, Chris Petersen could try to be the next Urban Meyer at ND. Not likely, but possible.
