Dear Mods: We Have a Troll Infestation

Submitted by FauxMo on

Normally, I never see flat-out trolls allowed to stick around on the board. There are borderline cases here and there, sure, but today we have a couple of guys on the board today just devoted to trolling and nothing else. What gives?

MODS: Thank you. I am glad Tampa is back to being a serial killer, and Paul Finebaum retured to Tuscaloosa...

this is all a plot of the pay sites. get a revolt started on mgoblog, get the site to fail, keep their content to themselves, and get all the mgoblog traffic to join their pay sites. profit.

be like a guy meeting a girl's father when he picks her up for a date.  A few trusted, veteran users grilling the suitor.

Ya know, like a "What are your intentions with my blog?" kind of thing.

Not sure how feasible especially with the new site coming but here are a couple thoughts: 1. It seems the trolls are easy to spot. New users with hundreds of points within days or a couple thousand in a month. 2. The points in #1 aren't being accumulated by upvotes but by just posting. 3. So, you get a maximum of say 5 points per day for posting. If your posts are worthwhile then you'll get more points. 4. If a new user goes into negative territory, or maybe if any user gets a certain number of negative ratings, then they are locked out for a specified amount of time. 5. New users can't neg any post.

pos-bang threads allow these users to accumulate points fairly quickly. Essentially, pos-bang threads actually bypass the purpose of points system and thread limits, etc. In actuality, they are counter-productive to the whole purpose of why the points system was instituted.

Between the bullshit ads, the site not working on the chrome app, not being able to move over to the next page of the Mgoboard for the last year, and the trolls; this site is realllllly going to shit.

Here is the perfect example of a troll...

Someone, asked him a serious question:

...and this was the emotionally intelligent response:

Sigh!
