Good call. Next Question.

the most obvious call in the game, one that probably 80% of us watching at home were, as we were, yelling at Hoke to watch for.
October 20th, 2012 at 8:31 PM ^
I disagree, they were on like their own 20. Definitely not an obvious call. Dantonio likes to take chances and that one certainly paid off. Throwing the ball on second down late in the game, well that one didn't.
October 21st, 2012 at 2:05 AM ^
IMO, it doesn't matter whether it is inside their own 20 or not. Aside from giving away TO's, worst thing that can happen when covering punts is allowing them to get a new set of downs. You should ALWAYS be prepared for fakes upon punting. That's the bottom line. Our special team was totally at the wrong place at the wrong time for that play.
October 20th, 2012 at 8:45 PM ^
I was one of those people yelling to watch for the fake.
I personally think it was a HUGE mistake on the coaching staff's part to not be ready.
Any one else feel that way?

that it's not good to do double posts.

Yep. Flat out told my son-in-law to watch for it, he called me nuts.

But at least we won. Wooohoooo!

Ummm... put your big girl panties on and say what you want on FB. It's your mother fucking account for crying out loud.

Dear Dantonio, Thanks for win #900, brah. Invite us to the party when you're playing for 900 in 30 years.
EDIT: Better make that around 50 years. They'd have to average 9 wins a year to make it 30.

I await his latest bitter, humorless, self-righteous tirade.

Have you ever been on the MSU campus? They live and die for one game and one game only. If they went 1-11 and the the one win was against Michigan it would be a good season. Not trying to be dick on the beautiful day but that's what Sparty wants, all or nothing against Michigan.

My dog has been very sick lately and I've been on the campus a lot and they have all told me they don't care what happens as long as MSU beats Michigan. Now that could be because their season has been less than expected but that was the attitude at least this year from 9 out 10 people I have come in contact with. All have been cool about it though.
October 20th, 2012 at 7:08 PM ^
They'll be competitive, but look at the recruiting hauls the past couple of years. That's going to be the story going forward, no matter how much Dantonio scowls.

You play to win the game!
Yeah, not the brightest offensive gameplan in the world. It was funny to see MSU clearly go all out for this game, yet still crap the bed at the end.

Had his team ready to play. Ballsy fake punt but that's what he does. Can't hate him for his coaching today, but I hope he makes a fool out of himself in the press conference. Pride before fall!

God, it must suck to lose the one game that gives you a modicum of self-worth. Now you're just stuck at a second-rate university in a cow-town.

The defense came out and played well for them today. Fake punt was ballsy, but they still lost. The real problem for them is they are not going to make a bowl game most likely. 4-4 right now with @Wisconsin vs Nebraska coming up next. Tough Northwestern team remaining to and close out the season with Minnesota.

At that point, his team was down, couldn't move the ball well, and he probably figured he had nothing to lose. I don't like Dantonio any more than I can throw him, but that call required some serious brass, and I can't fault him for it.
October 21st, 2012 at 2:15 AM ^
I am sure Douchetonion gave his kicker an option to fake, depending on our formation. Our boys were totally outnumbered on the righthand side of the kicker, and they just executed.
