Day 1, Round of 64, Part II: Evening Games Thread
Halfway through the first day already, two evening games now underway:
Florida leading Nevada 24-21 with about 5 minutes left in the 1st half, and UK 13-3 over Abilene Christian after 6 1/2 minutes.
Nevada with a decent amount of turnovers. They’ve settled in a bit and have made it a game though Florida didn’t jump out to any insurmountable lead. I probably want Florida since they’ve lost 15 games or so and the last 4 of 6 but who knows.
Obviously can’t look past the Grizzlies tonight and need to handle our business.
I hope it’s a good atmosphere for our game later and a lot of Wolverine’s made the trip to support our guys!
Looks like Des Moines has had awesome attendance so far today.
Spotted: Brian Cook as a member of Nevada's band.
Florida up 9 at half 37-28
After a halftime score with a 3 pt lead for Bradley, I was disappointed they lost the game. Not surprised, but disappointed...
Go BLUE!!!
Farleigh Dickinson doesn't look like they belong on a D1 court. Committee gifted round 1 win to Gonzaga
It is a 1-16 matchup which typically go one way
99 x out of 100...... right Virginia Cavaliers?
Yeah I realize my post doesn't make much sense.
I meant to suggest that Gonzaga was undeserving of a 1 seed and hence such an easy matchup
Double
Undeserving...hmm
I actually agree with this take. Think of it this way, if Michigan after their non con schedule got to play in the WCC, we'd be a 1 seed too.
Peeps underestimated the turnout in Des Moines. I half guess many are just "locals" wanting to enjoy the opportunity to see NCAA Tournament bball though maybe certain fans travelled better than assumed. The broadcast guys very complimentary of Wells Fargo Arena.
(matters to me as an Iowan)
Yeah same thing here in Hartford. Full capacity at a 17,000 seat arena. I'd venture 3,000 UVM fans and 1,000 FSU fans, and then 2,000 Marquette fans, and 400 Murray State fans. But the other 10,000 just college basketball fan, made for a fun atmosphere.
Gators with some hot shooting tonight
This is getting away from the Wolfpack
Wow Florida coming out and dominating the second half so far. Up 15 right now
I know 15+ to go but Nevada just can't hang with the "big boys". Can't rebound. Can't score consistently. They're done.
Zags got dudes
oddly, my schedule is void of appointments tomorrow...... i guess it'll be an admin/catch up day. :)
Florida's an odd team, leading scorer averages 12 points and is only guy averaging in double figures. They seem to have a lot of length when you see them on the court, but on the roster they're not huge or anything. Sort of like last year's Florida State team?
Come on refs hurry up
Hard to believe Nevada was ranked so highly earlier in the season. Maybe an off night, but they're getting dominated by an o.k. Florida team.
Well Nevada looks done right now
looks like it's Florida then
Just not Nevada’s night. These guys can’t buy a basket.
Florida trying to run out the clock with much time left. Stupid.
Florida - Nevada game has turned choppy
nevada was one of the teams i was picking out for being overrated. lets see if the gators hold on.
Cool. We get to hear Reggie Miller commentate.
say again, over
Florida is choking this game away
Gators are a pretty good example of 'falling apart'.
Why doesn't this 7-10 matchup play after our 2-15? Seems to give the winner a slight rest and prep advantage over the winner of the next game.
How to shat the game 101 by the Florida gators
its almost like they watched film of a game from Sunday
I'll be on a Southwest flight for 5 hours, from 6pm eastern to 11pm eastern. Southwest offers several TV networks on each flight, but not TNT network. Southwest has wifi on each flight, but Southwest blocks all internet video streaming. I am in a tight spot. Gotta figure out how to watch that game! I havent missed a UM bball game live in two seasons. Anyone have some ideas? (Not booking a different flight.)
Try listening to the radio feed on TuneIn.
I’m struggling to see who I would rather Michigan play: Florida or Nevada
Florida. Nevada has a ton of fight, and Florida is folding. I'd rathr play the team that nearly blew a 20 point lead than a team that pulled off a 20 point comeback
Yeah Houston had to comeback last year in the first round and I still haven't recovered from that game.
I’m looking at Florida schedule though and they had some really good wins, closes losses to great teams, and not any bad losses.
Nevada is 25 on Kenpom and Florida is 27. The big difference though is that Florida is much worse offensively (in the 50s). Nevada is more balanced.
I think Florida. Nevada has more dudes. I think they can go on runs. Florida Winning by a few. Martins shooting like junk. I definitely want Florida, if we win tonight.
Nevada has a couple of SMOKIN' HOT cheerleaders.
Damn Nevada did this to Cincy last year
Not seeing the flagrent there, the offensive guy took out his legs not much he could have done to avoid the contact
