RT @GeoffVogt16: Dallas Crawford committed to Miami.

Guessing he's officially gone now. SIAP, I don't think this has already been posted.

I generally try to avoid recruiting all together before the actual signing day because it changes so much, but this does look pretty nuts all together.  Kind of scary for down the road.

But, my positive spin is that Hoke seems to have done well (so far at least) in the most important recruiting area, which is keeping everyone who is already at UM here and getting them all on board.  I know not getting these freshman sucks, but remember how disasterous / poisonous the situation was when Rodriguez lost some key guys to the NFL and transfer and didn't get buy in from a lot of the guys who stayed around.  All in all, I think avoiding the crap that happened to Rodriguez is more important to the long term future of the team (and Hoke's job) than getting these guys, as painful as it is.

Geoff Vogt is  all about Dallas Crawford. If you ask him, he would tell you that he is of the opinion that Dallas is the best all around football player in the entire state of Florida.

Sam Webb said this morning that Chris Bryant is close to "gut feeling" level in terms of his love for Michigan.  He also said that things look good for Hakeem Flowers.  Rivals is saying that Kellen Jones is firm.

I dont even know what to say...i have just had a bad feeling ever since the bowl game...we are not going to have a good recruiting class...They are gonna have Denard in a pro style offense...This just screams transfer after spring ball.

Everyone knew crawford was gone there were rumours before RR was fired. No doubt it sucks but Hoke isnt going to be looking for the same kind of players RR was. It is admirable to keep the the players you were left with and try to work your offense/defense around them but to recruit more guys that dont fit your scheme is unheard of. Hokes players are going to be big and tough both physically and mentally, and have a fanatical love for the game and what is michigan and accountability. Im not so sure Hoke wanted to touch Crawford like he does the other kids. Seriously Id say Hoke pulls a few solid recruits this year 15+ or so given the time he has to work with but next year we have a top 20 recruiting class.

Oh come on now.  I hate when people start framing the past recruits/coaching staff as not getting the "right kind" of kids and throw around nonsense like "love for the game."  This isn't a Disney movie, and I'm fairly certain that everyone RR recruited is as tough and passionate as anyone Hoke will bring in.  And for all the talk about Ninja Slot kids, RR's teams are just as big as most of the other teams in the B1G (Wiscy always was huge), and were a talented bunch.  I know that the old guy is gone and thus it is officially time for the fanbase to turn on him, but stop it with crap arguments like this.

It was never meant to be an argument, just a joke about the press confress. I realize we are all under diress as a result of this years recruiting class but lighten up. I never meant for anyone to read into it that Crawford couldnt be used, hes a beast, just that we were most certianly going to suffer casualties with the coaching change. Everyone is freaking out and pointing fingers because of the recruits that we lost, that we may have never had in the fisrt place. No one seems to be giving any credit for retaining current players an even bigger feat in my opinion.

getting decent advice, someone is probably telling you that Michigan has another transition ahead, with a dog's body of an offense while Borges works Denard like a (very fleet) boa constrictor through his system. . . with another steep learning curve for all concerned. If you're a really promising player and want to play on a winner, you may not choose Michigan.

Nothing against Hoke, but this was still a cock-up by Brandon. Luckily, not too many of these lost players would have contributed strongly next year.

My fellow UM fans - please stop freaking out.  Honestly what good will it do you to freak out?  Number one - the day the RRod craziness started two guys were guaranteed to be gone:  Dallas Crawford, and Dee Hart.  These two guys had built a great relationship with the previous staff - the likelihood they would stay was minimal.  Secondly, Crawford is an EXCEPTIONAL cornerback and will do great with the Hurricanes but there was an obvious hatred he started having for Michigan even before Rich was fired (when the writing was on the wall I suppose).  The animus he had towards Countess at the AA game was just one example.  He wasn't coming to Michigan whether we hired Les Miles or the ghost of Bear Bryant.  The same with Dee Hart - those ships sailed.

Kris Frost I believe can still be salvaged but I might be in the minority.  I am also of the belief that you will lose commits when coaching changes occur because historically that's true.  I am not going to blame the entire coaching staff or Dave Brandon for a group of kids who were more committed to the previous coaching staff than to Michigan.  I doesn't matter who the coach is and how long he has a chance to recover the recruits, eventually if you are more committed to the previous coach than the university, you will end up transferring anyway.

Best of luck to Crawford.  I'm not surprised that he is going somewhere else - he really liked the old coaches, and I doubt he's excited about coming into a new situation with no real connections to the past regime.

Sure, its going to be a pretty weak class with a lot of disappointing decommits, but what should we expect based on how DB handled this? We can't change any of that, and Im sure Hoke and his staff are evaluating and making decisions based on how to get UM back to football glory ASAP. It won't happen over night, but one bad class won't kill us for 4 years either. If Hoke is as good of a recruiter as people say, then this debacle will be a blip on the radar. Its going to come down to developing the talent we have and winning games this Fall...after that then the rest will fall into place. Let's hope Denard and Borges get something special figured out, because that defense will get better.

Dallas Crawford is a passive aggressive pansy.  "Virtually" having a temper-tantrum on facebook about not making the All-Star game, and then taking shots (at that time) another future teammate, Blake Countess, who did make the All-Star game.
