D. Warr. messin' around?

Submitted by fatbastard on
Sorry if posted already, didn't see it. But, Christian mentioned Warren might take a look at going pro: "I honestly think that Donovan's going to try to mess around and go to the league," Christian said. "He told me personally he might mess around." http://www.annarbor.com/sports/michigan-football-gets-cornerback-commit… Hopefully nothing more than a look . . .

He's not planning on enrolling early is he? If not, it would probably be pretty hard for him to start next year. I remember a lot of people thought Turner might start this year and he never saw the field, partly because he didn't have much time to adjust before the season started.

Isn't it common knowlege that Warren is going to put his name it and find out where he would likely go before making his final decision? Isn't there a quote out there that he is staying "unless he gets told he is going a lot higher than he anticipates right now," or something like that?

I dont post on here a lot but I read a lot of the stories and love other peoples input (TomVH, Other Brian etc....), but Warren may be able to get a lot more money this year if he goes out. Not only are a lot of teams looking for quality cover corners (just seems to be the vibe from various NFL teams) but this year it looks as like the NFL will not have a salary cap. I honestly think that may have been a huge factor in Brandon Graham coming back this year. If D Warren finds out that he will be at the least a 2nd round pick he might go just because he can get considerably more money than the average 2nd round pick. Obviously, being a die hard M fan and being a kid who is the same class as Warren I REALLY REALLY want him to stay but i couldnt fault him if he decided to go. I think that you need to look at the other factors other than his love for Michigan. Not saying he is leaving just saying that him saying he is coming back next year is far from set in stone and the more corner recriuts we can get the better. (Sorry if I am being repetitive I love this blog and read it everyday)

I'd imagine that means nothing more than he's going to get an evaluation...which is the smart thing for him to do. They will probably tell him that he's a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and if he wants to be a 1st round pick next season, he needs to work on a, b, and c. He could be the first corner taken next season. Smart money says he stays.

I dont disagree with your statement but, as an economist, does he get more as a second round pick this year than the average second round pick....that remains to be seen with the labor agreement. Obviously, I really want him to come back. Im just saying think about it from his perspective. What if he comes back and gets hurt.

have done in the past and stay until the graduate(except CWood). It has worked out well for Law, Jackson, Hall etc. I don't think DW is a first round pick or even second right now, he may be a 3rd but 3rd and 1st round money is not even close. If he stays we may have (based on rankings our of high school) one of the better secondary's in college football but then again we can always have what we have this year.

Ty Law left after his true junior year as well, so if you are looking at those 4, half left early. Hall wasn't a stud immediately and Jackson got hurt his junior year, which may have kept him back. The reality is if a player is a solid contributor their true freshman year, they don't have significant injuries (which you could argue Warren has had) and they progress, they are most likely gone in three years.

if he grades out as a first or second round pick then he should go, toss up if they're telling him third round. i selfishly want him to stay, and think he could be great next yr but he needs to put himself and his family before michigan football. i wonder how fast the guy is though. if he can run right around a 4.5 in the 40 (hopefully under) then he would be a sure fire first round pick with his size. however, if he's not that fast and can come back next year and be an all-american he'll get picked pretty high regardless of 40 time. i think malcolm jenkins is a good example bc they both are very similar in size and speed.

If he stays we will have him on one side and Justin Turner on the other. We all know what Warren's abilities are and I was able to watch Justin Turner play all through high school, he played on both sides of the ball and was some kind of talent. I don't think our corner play will be a problem as much as it was this year. Go Blue !!!!!!
