Yeah.... It'd be tough for me to believe that Michigan is losing a head-to-head battle for Notre Dame after a 4-8 season and a 2 seasons getting vacated.

The staff hasn't cooled on him but as Oliver's timeline drags out there is the very real possibility that he loses his spot. The staff must be feeling real good about DPJ, Nico, and Tarik. Add in Brad Hawkins who is finishing a prep year and we have four WR in the class after taking 6 last year which reduced to 5 with Mitchell transferring. Throw in the fact that if they land Ambrey Thomas he can play both ways and Martin becomes a luxury.

Not counting TE's and Hawkins, we only took 3 WR's last year and all except maybe Crawford are slot receivers. We really need outside WR's.

Martin is a slot.

For some reason, writers wanted to claim we were taking 6 WRs last year. That included Evans, Mitchell and Hawkins. Never made sense, because it was predicated on moving Evans from another position while not moving Hawkins or Mitchell to safety.
Crawford looks like an outside WR, not a slot. Johnson should be a slot. I think McDoom could play inside or outside as needed. Hard to tell where that's going to be.

To add, they might take one of those WR spots and use the scholarship for another position. I'm ok with taking just 4 WR (including Hawkins) instead of 5 if that means another on the OL/DL.

The reasoning here and Martin setting up an official to Notre Dame led to the Crystal Ball change. With the number of players still on the board there are going to be some targets whose timelines determine whether they'll have a spot in the class more than their interest; Martin could be one of those guys.

So basically, you're saying that on a chilly winter day, you like to drape his balls all over you?
I'm OK with that...

Purpleface getting bye-byed after this Saturday will be almost as good as watching Michigan win The Game.

I want Kelly to stay and keep turning the SS Notre Dame towards that iceberg.

Maybe it is the catholicism that is appealing to him. It sure can't be the outlook of the team or the coach.

nico, hawkins, DPJ, black
if we have that 4 and all the other positions/recruits we in for, might be a numbers game at this point
also apologies as i forget, is he an EE? Could this be a crunch for early kids?

+1 for being the first guy to mention safety. Before his academic issues all the talk was about how he was really going to be a safety. With JKP and Woods as safeties our depth there still leaves room for another.
November 23rd, 2016 at 1:00 PM ^
Don't forget Crawford on the outside next year. Not a lot of evidence on him as a receiver yet, but as a blocker he already plays like a vet and he is a hound on special teams too. He could be a Darboh/Chesson type very soon.

Sounds a lot like a RS Freshman/RS Sophomore Jehu Chesson. I would gladly accept the same trajectory.

Sam said once Hawkins became a clear take one of Black/Martin were likely to end up elsewhere. Seems the staff likes Black more.

I think it is hard to say that the staff like Black better. Since Hawkins is a take now, there is a number crunch at WR. It is all based on timeline for who ends up in the class.
November 23rd, 2016 at 1:42 PM ^
So it may not just be a case of liking him more.
