Cris Carter claims “to have sources that say Harbaugh is looking for a way out of Michigan”
On First Things First this morning, the former Buckeye states that Harbaugh is looking at the Packers and Browns HC position to try to find an exit strategy from Ann Arbor.
Mighty funny how he drops this the bit of news the day after Urban leaves town. Haven’t heard a peep of this anywhere else. Looks like people in Columbus are realizing we have the best coach in the division now and want him gone ASAP!

this would be a great hire
December 5th, 2018 at 9:10 AM ^
I know he's considered a popular name in coaching circles, but I was consistently frustrated by his team's performances while at UT. Is he the best UM could hire? Maybe, but I wouldn't consider it a "great hire" and would make other phone calls before dialing up Campbell.
And that's just my opinion, man.

Lincoln Riley made $4.8M this year. Offer him Harbaugh's salary and see if he will take it.
December 5th, 2018 at 8:28 AM ^
Riley will be in the League any year now. Not him. Maybe we should go back to West Virginia well. Rich Rod worked out so well that I'm up to try Holgerson.
Seriously, Harbaugh is here for the long haul. He's got four young kids. He's said he wants to raise them in Ann Arbor. The grandparents moved into town from Wisconsin. There is nothing in his career that suggests he has Larry Brown disease. NFL slappys just can't fathom why a coach might prefer coaching college. And they've been wrong about Harbaugh at every step since he got fired in San Francisco.
December 5th, 2018 at 8:50 AM ^
I love how it seems with these guys Harbaugh is simultaneously over rated and a failure at Michigan and a top candidate for new NFL jobseekers
December 5th, 2018 at 10:11 AM ^
Nothing in his career except the data on how long he's lasted at every stop. Oh and the opinion that he tends to wear out those around him .
I'm not disagreeing with you, but to say he sticks around wherever he goes isn't true at all. If anything, he does seem to have Larry brown disease. Most coaches move around a lot.

Duderino:
So, Harbaugh starts at FCS San Diego. Turns them into a big winner. Takes a huge step up and turns a miserable Stanford program around quickly. Gets an NFL opportunity and takes a lousy San Francisco team to the Super Bowl in just a few years. In spite of working for nonentities like Jed York and Trent Baalke. That is a very conventional coaching progression. It isn't coaching wanderlust.
December 5th, 2018 at 2:20 PM ^
This is another myth built by haters and propagated by lazy journalists and media "personalities." Only place he "wore out his welcome" was 49ers and their management was insane and the fans still hate them and love Jim Harbaugh.
December 5th, 2018 at 11:38 AM ^
Besides money, why in the world would Riley come here? Its not like Oklahoma is a bad gig and they have enough resources to make salary comparable, he's from nearby Texas, his family lives nearby, he's got a great thing going right now where he's already competing for championships, outside a brief stint at ECU, has never left the region. If he wanted to try the NFL, I could maybe see him leaving, but there is no reason for him to leave to take a different college job.

The newly available Brady Hoke?
December 5th, 2018 at 8:56 AM ^
Why can't Hoke keep a job? This is as weird as Halle Berry not being able to keep a man.

No matter how pretty she is, there's always someone, somewhere, that's tired of her shit.
(I guess that works for guys, too, but I have no experience with this...)
December 5th, 2018 at 8:26 AM ^
Let me preface this by saying I do not want this to happen but if Harbaugh left suddenly I think there is a really good chance that the interim coach is Pep Hamilton. Also if this happens I will exile myself from Mgoblog for even suggesting it.
December 5th, 2018 at 12:00 PM ^
Agree. Don't want to see it happening, but with the way Jim speaks about Pep (especially remarks about his personality and who he is as a person), I've always had this horrible gut feeling that Harbaugh is grooming him to replace him. I hope I am very wrong

Don "Freaking" Brown.
First thing he does is get shoulder pads with spikes on them like Hawk and Animal of the Road Warriors.

Urban Meyer. I hear he’s available, and Michigan is one of his dream jobs. (Not that is want the dirt bag anywhere near this program)

Dino Babers.
He beat Clemson at home last year and was a minute away from beating them on the road, all with 2 and 3 star recruits.

Regardless, I hope Michigan has a succession plan.
Any big boy executive club should have a succession plan regardless if the CEO is there 1 day or 30 years.
It's part of what killed Michigan when Carr left. Barnacle Bill had no idea what to do.

My number one would be Morehead...
offensive guru with a modern style and ability to adjust to personal.
existing relationship with Don Brown (believe he tried to hire him away when he left for MSU)
familiar with the B1G and now has some roots in the south.

Guys, I'm his source, I'm just sending him bullshit, what should I tell him next?

Tell him that "Oakland is still in play."

Mgoscottie--
Tell him on the Normandy trip a huge M $$$ supporter planned a long range sabotage plan for Urban and Zane Smith was the turncoat, took a huge payoff and eventually put the plan in action.
The end result of intrinsic detailed planning and intelligence work OSU is now run by Don Brown puppet Ryan Day who will share game plans and recruiting strategies with M Director of Special Projects, Zane Smith.
Also, tell him he is STILL an asshole despite his born again reputation bandaid, bondo and botox campaigns.....

“Every year is its own chapter, but the story doesn’t really change,” said Ramzy Nasrallah, executive editor of the Ohio State site Eleven Warriors. “The story is that Ohio State’s aspiration is to be Michigan.”

I like Carter's show, but please. A day after his buddy Urbs is leaving, what can he do to help his alma mater's recruiting? Oh yeah, here's an idea. This is always a thing we are going to have to deal with......
December 5th, 2018 at 7:53 AM ^
Exact same thing I thought! Bet you this was a directive from Urban to help Ryan Daye on the recruiting trail
December 5th, 2018 at 7:54 AM ^
Carter cannot help himself. He does, after all, have a losing record against Michigan. That sticks with you in Ohio.

Somewhere, a short sleeve man, recently unemployed, begins to clap...
December 5th, 2018 at 7:51 AM ^
Those sources are the demons in his head, the ones that whisper ‘Michigan has more wins, a higher winning percentage, more Big Ten championships, more national championships, better academics, and a higher level of integrity.’

Delete the thread, don't let this stupid rumor get any more traction.
December 5th, 2018 at 9:59 AM ^
He has a national platform, it’s already out there. Deleting this thread will do nothing to stop that.
