Craig Roh Now a Starter in the CFL

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

Craig Roh - the only Wolverine in the CFL - has moved into the starting lineup for the B.C. Lions. He had a sack last week, and they featured him in this newspaper. His Michigan background earns a shoutout.

Roh had been on the practice squad, and they just moved him up recently.

Nice to see the young man is still making a living playing football.

Always liked him.
I know that it is often a stepping stone but in the meantime what kind of pay does a guy make in the CFL?

For the past 6 months or so $1 US = $1.20 CAN.  Went as high as $1.30 a couple months back.

I'm up north myself for a few years for my job and its nice for me, not for the Canadians.  I use a Capital One card for everything due to the exchange rate.  It's like getting 20% off on every purchase.

for a living so that's the reason I was asking for clarity.  You're right, the CAD is pretty weak right now.  It's trading @ 1.30 levels at this moment.  I remember about 1.5 years back it was near parity but has since moved towards historic highs.  The USD is pretty strong amongst most major currencies for the moment.  Which works well for me.

I got here in April 2013 and it was $1=$1.02.  In January of 2013, the Canadian dollar was acually stronger by a couple cents.  It stayed as basically equal for about 6 months and then started creeping down.  2014 is when it slid into the $1.20's and it hasn't came back.

I hope it stays in the $1.30 next week when I have to do my bank to bank exchange for my rent.

And I'd have to agree withwhat everyone is saying about $80,000.  If it's Canadian currency, that has to hurt in VC. VC is the most expensive city in Canada.

The CFL has become the United Nations. Flags are flying everywhere. Games are averaging 28.5 penalties per outing compared to 21.6 in 2014, an increase of 32 per cent. It’s concerning to TSN executives from an entertainment point of view. And it’s concerning to Lions head coach Jeff Tedford, because a lack of discipline can be reflected on the scoreboard.

So that's where Jeff Tedford went, eh? I had wondered actually after 10 seasons at California and that brief stop as the OC at Tampa (was it Tampa?).

In all seriousness though, nice to see Roh getting a shot somewhere and continuing to play football. Interesting statements on the protection of the quarterback in the CFL too actually - really hadn't thought about it before, but given the style of play that is prevalent, I get it.

On FIFA 15 I sent a 5* scout to Bolivia.  I now have a 6'6 CB Bolivian CB who is an absolute terror on corner kicks.  He is an alien.

Also am the Bolivian national coach(should have just held out for US but oh well).  When life gives you lemons you make lemonade.  When it gives you Bolivia, you chuckle and make bolivians.  I couldn't turn it down with the UM Bolivia connection.
