Countess will wear #2(!), Peppers is #5. + other freshmen numbers
Here it is!

Good for Countess. I remember the day he committed. It was around the time I really started getting into the recruiting side of things.
Freshmen numbers for those who will be on campus now-
- #5 Jabrill Peppers
- #19 Jared Wangler
- #54 Brady Pallante
- #58 Chase Winovich
- #59 Noah Furbush
- #76 Juwann Bushell-Beatty
- #85 Maurice Ways
- #93 Lawrence Marshall
- #94 Ian Bunting
- incoming tranfer Ty Isaac will wear #32. The number he wore in HS.
Did Vincent Smith earn it? Shawn Crable? Did Sam McGuffie? How about Justin Turner?
Please take your "earn it" b/s and exit immediately.
is just weird. I assumed he'd be in like the teens or 80's seeing how he's more Jimmy Graham and less Matthew Mulligan
Jared Wangler gets 19 btw
It does seem a bit odd because it doesn't seem like tight ends get numbers in the 90s all that often, but according to the rulebook, any "end" on offense can have a number 80-99, or in the NCAA's words, it is "strongly recommended" that they have numbers in this range. Obviously, with the Legends jerseys, we have seen spot disregard of this recommendation, but it doesn't really seem to ultimately matter.
(Which I assume you are because Wangler is mentioned in the OP, so there's no reason to bring up his number)
...he can't Speight got it first as an early enrollee. They both play offense.
Numbers in the 80's are all taken by offensive players. Have to remember, Hoke recruits TEs where as Rich Rod didn't as much.
The only non-scholarship 80's is #89 worn by a 4th year walk-on who may actually play.
#13 could've been shared with Terry Richardson, but you have to think special teams (even though I'm not sure Richardson plays special teams because he's so small)
#15 may have been able to be shared with James Ross
#18 is a walk-on RB...IMO, THAT is the winner. That should be Bunting. #81, flipped for the skinny TE.
Its early and lets not forget Legend #s like 21 are still open so somebody may get that and then Bunting can switch..or Bunting may redshirt and switch next season.
Pretty much. This is like Christmas in June for me with all these updates.
God, I hate the offseason.
You need to get a life.
So maybe lay off...
I for one am happy for him. I thought all of the other threads were ridiculous with it being June. But this is like HIS moment. Proud of him...I'm gonna tip my cap and let him have it.
I'm just waiting for that first depth chart...then you fuckers better watch out! It'll be MY time to SHINE! WOOOOO!
He has absolutely no responsibilities until he moves into the dorms in the fall. If he's waiting around for MGoBlue to update the jersey numbers for the fall, he's doing it wrong.
I'm pro-Devotee. I encourage him (you) to strike a balance, and I don't expect him to post as much in the fall - but it's summer. He has 18 hours a day of free time and enjoys this blog.
Football season will be here in a few months.
Please.
Between now and the end of Football season is when my social life is at its most active.
I go out several times a week with friends. I've been out for damn near every World Cup soccer game recently at sports bars or gatherings, as well as going out twice a week during last football season to watch the week games.
If that's not enough, I'm taking my lady friend to the final home game against Maryland for her first game in late November.
It may not seem like I have a "life" because of my hobbies involving Michigan and how much I post on here, but I do.
... Your "lady friend"?
Uh... no eighteen year-old ever says that. I'm calling bullshit on your age; you're really a forty-something superfan, aren't you?
I am not your average 18 year old. Not by a longshot.
I do wish I experienced the 90s, though. If there is any doubt, I mean, I posted this the day I graduated HS a few weeks ago.
Are we allowed to place bets on whether or not you'll still have the same girlfriend come November? I know my relationship with the girl I was dating when I left for college lasted about a week and a half. Barely made it through welcome week.
Welcome Week is precisely when you don't want to have a girlfriend.
the "end of my innocence" as a freshman, less than a week after leaving home, 39 years ago this August. In the interest of accuracy, the only differences as as follows: substitute "dormitory" for "sorority" and change the name of the bar.
Those decadent 70's...
further out than you've been seeing each other.
How I Met Your Mother nailed that one (I'm fully expecting a reply correcting the original source of that rule, so it's cool if someone wants to.)
wolverine devotee,
drop you lady friend
drop E
get fucked up
meet some new chicks
don't wear condoms!
?
profit
You can wear a number in the 90s and be an eligible receiver in college football.
single you out (as others upthread already had made similar comments), but why all the negativity towards the #94 that Bunting will be wearing? Is it possible that he requested the #---maybe the # means something important to him?
Other's who've worn the #2 since Woodson has been discussed a lot on this blog. The significance of Peppers wearing it because he's a very similar to player to what Woodson was when at Michigan: dominant CB whose also dangerous enough to play offence and return kicks/punts. Numbers really don't matter, but it's fun to be nostalgic about one of favorite players vicariously through an incoming player of similar talent. Happy Countess is wearing it though.
I do have to call you out on this one though...
"Good for Countess. I remember the day he committed. It was around the time I really started getting into the recruiting side of things. "
Haha, that was late-January 2011. You can't give the old-man quote on something that happened 3.5 years ago. Say that about Woodson and okay, fair enough. But Countess still has 2 years to play!

The French have infiltrated our ranks
Guess we can toss out that trick play.
i hope countess proves he's earned it.
It's common knowledge he's already done so. He led the league in interceptions and the media had him as an all Big-Ten player.
Love Marshall's number. I think Brian said he was hoping for a RS, but with Clark graduating and only Ojemudia behind, I think he plays. Really hoping for some pass rush pop
