Could Donovan Warren come back?

Submitted by BlueintheBlood on
There was recently an article on Rivals indicating that due to Warren's sub-par performance at the combine, he would likely benefit coming back for his senior season as opposed to jumping to the NFL. The article is behind a paywall, but this is what the except stated. Is this even possible? I would gladly welcome him back for next year.

The way I read the CBA for my diary post about Clarett, the NFL specifically requires early entrants to renouce the remaining eligibility, so I don't think the agent thing matters like it does in the NBA. Regardless, no, he can't come back.

saying he was going to be a first round pick obviously. I was more focused on the fact that he had signed with Rosenhaus and it was the most legitimate source I could find.

He's not going to do significantly better at the combine in a year. Another season at Michigan would be great for us fans, but he has very little to gain in terms of draft stock if the knock against him is speed.

Anyone honest follower of UM football could have told him he could benefit from another year. Hopefully, it works out for him.

Im not sure on this but i thought you could put youor name in the draft and see where the scouts would project you and then you had a week to withdraw, i think the withdraw date wasa friday sometime around superbowl week

I believe you can talk to all of the agents that you want about anything that you want (Ryan Mallet talked to an agent this year) but you are not tied to anything unless you declare. Once you declare is when it all changes. I have never heard anything about a one week trial period. Not saying it is not possible, just saying I have never heard of it. FWIW

It is my understanding that once you declare for the draft you waive any and all eligibility. As someone mentioned earlier making them no longer an amateur. It has always been my understanding that that was the reason why kids typically wait until after their bowl game to declare. Darren Mcfadden waited until right after the cotton bowl to declare because he wanted to play one mare game with the Hogs. Same with Sanchez even though everyone knew they were both going to leave.

Not only is it unlikely, it is impossible for him to come back to college. The date for withdrawal has passed, and he signed with an agent anyway. He has been signed, sealed, and delivered to the late rounds of the NFL draft or perhaps the Edmonton Eskimos.
