Congratulations to msu

As much as I hate it, Dantonio is an incredible coach. 2 conference titles in the last 4 years, a 12 win season this year. Sparty No is dead. The Spartans are not going away.

Dantonio and Urban will be equally as hard to defeat for the near future.

Thank you for shutting up osu, though.

Some of the comments in this thread were just strange. Congratulations to MSU. Just think, without a few questionable PI calls vs ND, they might be undefeated. They are the best team in the B1G and I hope they represent our conference well by slamming Stanford. There are going to be some hits in that game. The only way our conference will gain back any respect is by winning in bowl games. I hope they win, and the same for OSU. This is not the same as "rooting" for them. I don't like either team, but their winning and losing doesn't affect my mental well being except against us.

As a minor note in this thread, if some of the comments seem a little out of place with regards to what the person above them said, it is because a certain user was shown the door for being way over the top with negativity and general ill will towards their fellow MGoBloggers.

When it comes to the game itself, like others, I simply watched this game with the fan in me mostly unplugged, but I will admit to having cracked a small smile when MSU scored for the second time in the 4th quarter.

So I get more upset with the fanbase than I do the team. That being said I'm thrilled for Dantonio ( he's a great guy and actually really funny in a way) and this team. They were fantastic this year and they got better every week.

Eh I really do think they are going away soon. Recruiting wise they aren't on that level ... Of course, they were a few years ago when we weren't targeting the same types of player.

Congrats to em.

Is a Sparty fan and maaannn did she let me have it, I wonder if she's still hungover from last night as I could hear the celebration going on in EL. Congrats Sparty.

Did people learn NOTHING from the whole State of the Site post the other day?

THIS DOES NOT CALL FOR NAME-CALLING DEBATE. KNOCK IT OFF.

As much as I dislike MSU, they and their coach deserve props. They just play football. The season long demise of UM and OSU's public pistol-whipping by MSU make me feel as if there is a fundamental difference between what used to be the Big 2 and Little Brother. The Big 2 seem to be PR machines that overhype everything they do but when it comes to on-field performance are leave one feeling .....empty and even cheated. Sparty, on the other hand, comes to play, does his business, and lets that speak for itself. UM used to be that way. We are great at talking the talk, but recently don't really walk the walk. Congrats to MSU - well earned.

They are who Michigan would be if Harbaugh came here either after 07 or 10. Perfect technique in the offensive line, blocking assignment adjustments during the snap count, hundreds of variations out of any one formation, no negative plays, brutal aggressive defense.

Michigan might get there still but.....

This rooting for MSU and congratulating MSU stuff is coming from a "let's wallow in self-pity and pile on our own punishment" place. Stop it and man up.

You are going to need that thick skin dealing with State fan here in Michigan for the next 11 months or so. The biggest reason why Ohio winning would have been just fine with me.

Congratulations to Michigan State University.  Good luck at the Rose Bowl.  Represent the Big Ten well.

See you in ten months, and we'll be ready.

in reference to MSU not being the same old Spartans anymore. As long as Dantonio is there and more specifically Narduzzi then they will be legitimate. Maybe now Michigan will play with a little more fire against MSU because they have proven not to be of lesser competition.

Pretty obvious most of us were rooting for OSU or FYS based on where we live or how much shit you would have to shovel based on one team winning. Personally living here in Ann Arbor I was rooting for OSU since there are few of them here in Ann Arbor. I know I am not looking forward to seeing B1G championship shit all over every Meijer, gas station and CVS for the next 8 months. Not to mention the car flags, bumper stickers and license plate rings that will be all over the road for years to come...if they win the rose bowl it will be unbearable.

None of those things happened when Michigan won the Big Ten and Rose Bowl?

We are not entilted to those things, you know.  We have to earn them.

MSU flat-out earned them.  In fact, they have a legit gripe that they got screwed and should actually be playing in the NC.  Talk about earning it.

Success isn't reserved just for us.

we criticize the Spartans for caring too much about what Michigan does yet it looks like half of the fanbase came unhinged last night. I swear it looks like the roles have been reversed. This game happened and it sucked but this is not indicative of the future of Michigan's program. Why does it matter so much if the Spartans are good? Can't both programs sustain success? Oklahoma and Okie State have been doing a good job of it recently.

I give Dantonio credit for creating a solid football team in EL, and no doubt they are just that. Fundamentally sound and nearly mistake-free. That being said, I am sick to death of eating shit from the fanbase. I was rooting for OSU last night--one successful enemy is better than two.

It also kills me that MSU takes a 3-star recruit like Cook and turns him into a solid player, whereas UM takes a talented athlete 5-star recruit like DG and four years later he's still a mess as a QB.
