Congratulations Katelynn Flaherty!!

Submitted by RoseInBlue on

I just wanted to take a minute to say congratulations to Katelynn Flaherty of the women's basketball team for breaking the all time scoring record for Michigan women's basketball last night against Louisville in the 3rd game of her senior season.  They lost and it was an ugly outing for the Michigan women but Flaherty scored 23 points with 5 3-pointers to overtake Diane Dietz's record of 2,076 career points that had stood for 35 years.

She took over the record on a straightaway 3-pointer about 4 minutes into the game.  She now has 2,091 career points.  Congratulations Katelynn and Go Blue!!!

UM played well the first 2 quarters and had the lead.  They took a lot of bad shots in 3rd and 4th quarters.  Also, not having an experienced PG really hurt them with TOs.

Right now it's Flaherty with KBA trying to work Deja Church in for the future.  I believe Katelynn ran point in high school but it's not her true position (plus she still hasn't played the position in 4 years) so it's been a bit shaky at times.

And yes, it was only the 2nd half that was truly ugly.  The ladies played great ball in the 1st half and led I believe 37-32 at half.  But they could not get much offense going (due in part to Louisville's great defensive effort) in the 3rd and it just snowballed from there.
