Not a single bracket updated on 3/9 has us in.  I wouldn't use it to mean anything until after a win tomorrow and seeing updated brackets friday morning.  If the win vs northwestern gets us into most brackets friday morning the chance remains for us to sneak in.  If not you need the indiana win.

I mean I agree with you but if there is any chance just a win against NW gets us in we will know Friday morning.  The bubble is soft as hell this year and we just have to hope the "no bad losses" thing carries way more weight than it should and can trump a lack of quality wins.

am not looking big picture, just one thing at a time. Yesterday there were two more teams on bracket Matrix in more brackets than us then there are today. This is a good development. Syracuse lost and they will be out and we would be in before then with just the Northwestern win. This is also a good development. One thing at a time.

Monmouth and Valpo losing their tournaments hurt us.  The last thing we need is an LSU or even OSU going on a run and sliding ahead of us.

Well without playing a game but the 3/9 updates now the majority michigan dropped out of the first four out again.  There is no point in looking until where we see what a win vs northwestern actually does for us.

we wont make the tournament by other teams losing around us.. we have to win, plain and simple. beat NW , beat IU.. thats the formula. Hell might even need another W against Purdue/Iowa after that.

it amazes me how complacent our fan base can be. we live in a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately society, and the last two years of mid major players we've been watching is boring and unacceptable. does anyone see it getting better next year? the year after?

Unless you see every one of the sophomores and juniors making zero strides forward next year and have zero production from our freshmen, yes, I do see progress next year.

You know other teams get better too right?  Iowa is the only team with seniors dominating their minutes.  Wisconsin was supposed to be in a transition year, msu is losing a couple key contributors but is bringing in a loaded recruiting class, osu is absurdly you, maryland may lose trimble and stone to the draft but its not a gaurantee and is bringing in two top 100 guys.  Are Zak Irvin and Derek walton suddenly going to become playmakers as seniors?  Is duncan robinson or ricky doyle going to gain lateral quickness?  There is still nobody who can create their own offense on this team.

IMO guys make their biggest strides between Freshman and Sophmore year.

I don't expect the Senior version of Irvin, Walton, and Donnal to be much different than the Junior verions.   Similarly I don't expect the sophmores to be much different as juniors next year.  Long story short I expect next year to be very similar to this year.  Although next year we might be a last four in instead of a first four out type of bubble team.

This absolutely ridiculous. MSU loses 3 senior leaders including the national player of the year, not just some key contributors. Costello, Forbes, and Valentine are the heart of that team and for a coach like Izzo who gets absolutely nothing out of freshmen (Davis is an outlier, not the norm), I expect them to get worse. Maryland loses Saulimon and Laymen no matter what and if they lose Trimble and Stone they lose 4 of their top 5 scorers. Indiana and Iowa lose a lot of senior leadership and saying OSU will get better because they are young but Michigan won't is just being argumentative for no reason. Yes, other teams will get better. I never said they wouldn't. But the pessimism because we are on the bubble with a very young team is just piling on Beilein for no reason. Why is it so tough for people believe that having seniors and juniors come back from a 10-8 B10 team will result in possibly more wins? I get being upset the way this year played out but senior leaders and top draft picks are tough to replace.

See my reply below.the team went from 8-10 last year to 10-8 this year. Guys like MAAR and Donnal got better as they are sophomores and they usually get better. And why is everyone you listed "what they are?" I can tell you why-because everyone is frustrated and wants to take the absolute worst opinion of everyone because it was a rough year. Remember when everyone thought Beilein was amazing at developing talent? Yeah, that was about a year and a half ago. Now he forgot how to do it because we got worse when we lost 2 seniors for the year to injury. I guess there is no way Robinson, who hit a wall midway through his first year of DIII ball, will get better. We need to figure out how to be better basketball fans because we suck at it right now

If we had beat OSU and Wisconsin, your two game improvement scenario, we'd still be 3 games behind the champion and tied for 3rd place with Maryland, Purdue, and Iowa.  And given the Big Ten Tiebreakers we'd still be the 6th seed in the tournament.

Two more wins does put us on the right side of the bubble for the NCAA tournament but finishing 6th in the conference hardly is hardly worth celebrating.  We'd still have a 2-6 record against teams seeded above us.

player that has made progress and improvement this year and I cant believe Im going to say this but its Donal....Everyone else either stayed the same or regressed..I saw NO improvement NONE from the beginning to end of season and Doyle regressed ALOT from last year....thats the discouraging part..usually Belien teams improve as the season goes along even last year with all the in juries they played well against the really good teams...With pretty much the same lineup this year they were AWFUL and didnt improve one Iota this season

So apparently MAAR doesn't count. And I'm sure you had us pegged as a 10-8 B10 team after our games against SMU and UCONN. Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean the improvement wasn't there. And you would think Donnal getting better would maybe temper everyone talking shit about true freshmen and sophomores but here we are, saying Doyle, Wilson, Chatman, Dawkins, and pretty much the entire team can't improve.

8 of those wins were against Illinois, PSU, Nebraska, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Rutgers. I love Michigan basketball and want to see us do well but people were saying the same thing in December about us getting better and we never did and now we're supposed to magically get better with the same players.

The NC State is holding tough near the end of the first half with Duke.

A run by the Wolfpack in the ACC Tournament could get them under that top-100 RPI window.
