Lived there for a few years. Yes, it is a dump. It is in fact the largest in the lower 48, I believe Juneau is the largest overall.  Interesting fact, I believe it also sits on one of the largest aquifers in the U.S.  Our sprinkler was simply a pump connected to a pipe that a few guys pounded into the ground.

I was thinking about that in this portion of the thread - Jacksonville covers over 850 square miles, I believe, including the water in its borders. All of Wayne County Michigan is about 700 square miles, and Detroit is about 180 of that. Gives you a little perspective on how large that is anyway.

Yep.  This is just the land area of the municipality itself.  Jacksonville basically has no suburbs (outside of the beach communities) and it extends WAY out north and west from downtown.  A large chunk of Jacksonville is undeveloped swamp land.

Because of such, Jacksonville is actually larger than Houston plus Detroit!

Not sure who to root for in the PSU-Iowa game. Setting aside the “screw pedo state” thing, here’s my Michigan-go used thoughts:

Root for Iowa - need the Franklin slide to really take hold. A 7-5 season will help that along. We recruit against them, and they are in our division so I would like them not to recruit as well as they are. Weakening them is good for us in he long term. Also, if we make it to the Big CG, we want to beat a one-loss Iowa, not a 2-loss Iowa to guaranty a spot in the playoffs.

Root for Penn State - we play them next week. The better they are ranked the better a win would look. Also, I hate playing a team after a loss.

I am probably goi g to root for PSU and hope for a few bullshit 2nd half targeting calls against their best players. :)

Right?  I don't care who wins this game, I'll laugh at the loser in any case.  I do think, though, that Iowa is a paper tiger propped up behind a horrible schedule.  The only decent team they've played ended up a home loss to UW.

My prediction - PSU's offense will score enough to win.  UNLESS.  If the weather is bad enough to even slightly effect the pass game, Iowa will win.  PSU can't grind out a run game to save their pathetic lives...

The first 12-0 team in Iowa history was mostly an afterthought in the national conversation. They would've been in as an undefeared P5 champ, still people wouldn't have cared about them. MSU has little attention outside of this state (they hate it, but it's helped them hide from scandal), and still made the playoff.
