MSU has earned all the respect that comes with 29 wins in 101 games.

Yeah its a bit lame for Sparty to be rolling out the "no respect" card and the "we hate them" card... they are reaching this year for motivation... and missing badly.

Why they are the best looking 1-3 team in the nation.

who have nothing invested in the situation (MSU or UM fans)? Why would we respect them? We own the rivalry. They consistently perform to a lower level than UM. For crying out loud. Now they are just bitching. I used to have a wife like that bithced all the time......

seem to be respected

The no-respect card is a gimme; it's what Spartans do.
Playing the hatred card, though, was stupid even for a Spartan. They must be as sure that Forcier won't play as the oddsmakers seem to be, and getting a head start on their bragging.
Personally, I think UM can beat MSU by ten with Robinson, as long as Robinson gets a full week of practice with the first team. He's getting beetter every week, and MSU hasn't really seen enough of him to prepare for him. He has to know more than the five or six different plays he seems to have been allowed to run so far.
Back to that hatred card, though, why would any remotely competent coach allow a player (or, in this case, multiple players) to say things like that to the press during the week leading up to any game, let alone a rivalry game? What little respect I had for Dantonio is going down every time he or one of his players opens his mouth.

: A coach that feels that way and has made similarly childish remarks about UM in the past.
