College Bars in Manhattan (a list via Reddit)

Taken from Reddit

"With Gameday in NYC this weekend, I wanted to test the assertion that every school had its own bar in Manhattan. I've spent the past six hours trawling alumni association Facebook pages to find, ideally, a bar that there are currently consistent, publicly listed gamewatches at for the school, although consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds and I probably messed up in a few places"

The google map is interesting for location pockets:  http://bit.ly/2xYCyMS

I'm shocked it's only five. In San Diego, where I assume there are far fewer alums and bars in general, there are two official alumni locations and two more unofficial Michigan bars (just that I know of). I imagine there's at least one more somewhere in the city.

I just moved from NYC after living there for 8 years and I don't remember there being more than 3 official Michigan bars in NYC at any given time. There are unofficial ones that pop up from time to time, but those don't usually last without the alumni support.

I'm sure you're joking, but to give you a sense of what it actually costs I usually spend between $50 and $60 (including food and tip) per football Saturday at the Michigan bar I go to in Manhattan.

Yeah, the idea that NYC is expensive is true to an extent, but it's not like everything is outrageous. Beer and food, especially St bars, is pretty inelastic. I don't go out as much anymore, but you can easily sit through a day of college football without spending more than $50-$70.

Weird Blondie's is listed as a Northwestern and Staee bar. It was by my wife's apt when she lived there in 2005 and I remember it being 90% Michigan fans.

I am happy that is only five and the number should be even less. Once,

my assignment writer has told me that when he was in college days a bar fight amongst students ensued. This killed two talented young men who were very drunk thanks to the bar facility.

Wait, Indiana shares a bar with UCF? I wonder if Scott Frost wanders in occasionally and claims to have outhit the Indiana fans.

Interesting list though - surprised certain schools apparently didn't have a readily available listing, but then by the time you get to the Sun Belt or Mountain West, we're talking about maybe a party of six and who the hell cares which bar, right?

There are so many good sports bars, the "official" ones don't reprsent one tenth of your options. Lionshead is owned by a Wisconsin alum, but theyll put on anything you ask for and have dollar drafts for the Saturday noon games.
