Coaching Search: It has begun

Well, let the speculation continue. The press conference told us a whole lot if nothing.

I imagine there will be hundreds if not thousands of rumors. If you like, you can can start by placing them here. Maybe this can help keep it consolidated.

Innovator please, not someone like Hoke or Miles. Also someone who runs the spread, if we lose Denard we are in real trouble. How did it come to this again? No wonder Dominoes sucks

Stop mentioning Meyer, he shouldn't even be brought up. He just retired for health reasons and to spend time with his family, I don't think he would jump at the chance to handle the pressure of rebuilding this Michigan Team.

Realistically, I'd be happy with Les Miles. He has won a NC, can obviously recruit, though being at LSU has to make it pretty easy, and he is a "Michigan Man" that so many seem bent on getting.

I think everyone's number one choice is Harbaugh, and I would love to get him over anybody else, but all signs point to the NFL, though nothing is official til an agreement is reached.

Everyone out there knows that you never leave a job if you do not have another lined up.

I feel like this same thought process can be applied to this situation.

I don't understand how waiting 6 weeks to "review the season" would have changed the decision of DB.  I have to believe he knew he was firing RR after the OSU game and I hope to God he has something lined up.

If not, he should just call Bill Martin and go sailing around world with him instead of looking for a coach.

One of the things I'm intrigued to see about the hire is their background with the spread offense. The team clearly has the offensive players to run the spread, but I'm thinking the removal of Rich Rod could also signify DB's dislike of the spread offense. It's possible Brandon want's to return to a more pro-style offense, but with the personnel we have that may not be feasible right off the bat.

As fans, what would we like to see? For my part, while the spread has been entertaining I would cast my vote in to return to a similar offense we ran pre-RR. I'll be OK if that is a process that evolves over 2-3 seasons, but I think that is the way to go (and my feeling is DB feels the same).

side note: it is entirely possible a comment exactly like this has popped up somewhere on this board over the last few days and I've simply not seen it. My bad if that's the case.

What about Rich Rodriguez?

I mean, he has previous connections with the University which seems to be what the alumni really want out of a coach.  He was darn successful at WVU, turning in 3 straight stellar years and 2 BCS wins.
