I expected him to retire before then. This is a great way to start the morning.

Yup, this really improved the typical Wednesday morning doldrums

He just needs to have that steak and whole milk diet.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:08 AM ^
He'll be 68 at the end of this deal, for reference.

Was Matta born in the same hospital as Danny Almonte?

Now I know how Greg Oden ended up at Ohio State.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:18 AM ^
Then he can go coach South Carolina Football.

Wow I thought for sure we only had 2-3 more years left with him. That's great.

November 4th, 2015 at 9:11 AM ^
He will go from making $2.45 million to $3.37 million a year.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:19 AM ^
Still underpaid.

Actually, $3.37M is more than a lot of football coaches make.

$3.37M is more than a lot of football coaches deserve.

If Hackett goes out and gets Pearson after the hockey season ends, he can pretty much just walk off as best AD in decades.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:16 AM ^
If Hackett spends the next two years doing nothing more than pooping his pants while watching SpongeBob Squarepants on an endless loop in his office he can pretty much just walk off as the best AD in decades.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:17 AM ^
my thoughts exactly...as well as naming anyone other than Dave Brandon AD when he walks away
November 4th, 2015 at 9:36 AM ^
And naming anyone other than Steve Patterson.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:37 AM ^
That's not his call anyway.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:20 AM ^
Wow, looks like I'm qualified to be AD.

Ever may be too strong as we did have Don Canham who not only hired Bo, but helped to bring college athletics into the modern era.
November 4th, 2015 at 9:13 AM ^
I thought he would retire in the next 3-4 years.

Kills your recruiting for at least the last year unless a successor has already been named. That arrangement has its drawbacks too.

Just hope that his assistants get a nice raise as well. I would hate to lose any one of our assistant coaches. This is good news though for a Wednesday!
November 4th, 2015 at 10:50 AM ^
The assitants will definitely need a raise soon, specifically Jordan (for his guard coaching prowess) and Bacari (for being the awesome Bacari). I would love them to then tell Lavall he is the coach in waiting, and then publically announce announce it a few years before Beilein leaves. Lavall is the real deal and will exceed as a head coach.
