Here's my question - what happens if USC gets blown out by Stanford on Saturday? That record doesn't look so shiny if you add a blow out loss to Stanford on top of everything. The collective collar pulling that will be going on USC if that happens will be pretty fun to watch.

I can't believe there wouldn't at least be a few rumblings about Chip, Dantonio, Herman, etc. first. All the talk was this was the best opening in college football. But what do I know, I guess.

I've seen each of their games start to finish.  They have absolutely been a different, much more physical team offensively since Sark left. Noticeable even to non-sophisticated eyes like mine. Their rushing yards have shot way up and they're blocking with much greater effectiveness. Defensively they'll have to get a new coordinator most likely. But  games where they've played man to man and attacked the line of scrimmage they've looked a lot better. It's senseless to play soft coverages with the level of athletes they stock on that roster.   I think this guy gets it and has a very good reputation with quarterbacks at the school.  It's still a program with ground to make up from the sanctions.  So they are going to get slapped around a little by really good teams.  Don't assume this guy is some boob is all I am saying.

'Tis the season for useless "source" info on coaching search.

Jimbo Fisher is not going anywhere. The only reason why his name would appear in these coaching searches is because his agent is angling for more money and another extension for him. The same is true for opposite reasons for Greg Schiano. Nobody is offering that guy a job other than, maybe, Rutgers, and I'm assuming his agent is trying to create the perception that he would not be a terrible hire for a big name program.

That's kinda crazy.  Will be interesting to see how USC plays against Stanford this week, as they've looked better since he took over but I'm not sure he's a marked upgrade overall.  I mean, USC can always recruit, so there is a certain threshhold of success you expect just with the guys walking onto the field.  But this doesn't feel like a move that sends the team to that next level where they are competing with the national-caliber teams.

He is a no-nonsense guy who clearly knows how to use the superior talent USC always recruits.  "Next man up" isn't such a big fall off when that kid is a five star recruit and amazing athlete.

They have someone in mind but know they can't get him this year but think they can next?  Haven't seen the details of his contract.  Granted they are doing this at the end of November instead June like we had to do.  I can't imagine he would leave the NFL or that USC might bring him back, but are they maybe actually holding the seat for Pete Carroll?  That just seems crazy when I type it.
